It sounds like a linkage problem going to the carburator.

SOURCE: Ford E-350 2001 V-10 gas.

Check your fuel vapor recovery system, your van has unusual set up, and the effect is RAW fuel gets purged, rather than vapor.
The dead giveaway test is does the issue happen on light acceleration? Does it stop if you let off the throttle? Can you accelerate harder and "get past" the issue?

Car idles

If it revs up and down you need retrain the car to idle. I know it sounds crazy but you need to ask dealer or local shop the steps to do it.

Won't idle steady; speeds up and slows down;even when your driving down the road it will jump from like 1.5 rpm to 2.

The idle control system is probably malfunctioning. have your mechanic check the idle control solenoid

could be a lot of things. I personally would start with your vacuum lines... check for a leak somewhere. You can do that by spraying carb cleaner (if motor tries to die, you found your leak), or it could be a sensor, likely idle air control, mas air, etc.)

Belt problems

Replace your drive belt, it's probably too loose now and the tensioner cannot maintain proper tension.

I have a 2002 Dodge Neon that will idle at a higher rate than normal when I start the car. It will do this for about 5 seconds and then return to a lower idle but will diesel on me. When the car is taken...

it is a bad idle control valve. this is located on the throttle body. not the center pin sensor but the one to the side of center it has two torque screws holding it in. sometimes removing it and cleaning it will help. the cost for a new one is quite crazy. mine does the same thing. just a good cleaning once a month solves it for me.
