Question about 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Check engine light

A picture of an engine has appeared on my console. Is this the check engine light? Is it safe to drive the Jeep Cherokee this weekend? Of course things like this happens on Saturday and I have to wait until Monday to have it check. My biggest concern is is it safe to drive until I get it checked? Thanks.

98 jeep cherokee sport flashing engine light

The check engine light is because all check engine light codes are caused by components that affect emissions. It's not actually an engine problem, it's a problem with either your O2 sensor, MAF sensor, fuel/air ratio, pyrometer, or exhaust.

If the light is ywllow, it's emmissions or some sensor. You can drive to a service center and have the codes read. If the light is red...STOP!! and check engine oil. DO NOT drive further!! Have it towed in for service.

I have a jeep cherokee 01 and the check engine

tinyp78 has it right if it has the check engine light on then don't run it as it will damage the catalytic converter, as well if the injector fails and exlodes the parts can go into engine and damage a valve or cylinder.
