The wires that come from the ignition go on the + terminal of the coil. As most earth wires are plain black I would say the white wire to the + terminal and the black to the distributor

Sorry, don't have a diagram; but:-
The +12V supply end goes to an "+12V when Ignition on" source.
Note that the positive side of the coil also connects to "+12V when Start" source, to ensure maximum supply voltage to coil while cranking engine.

I have a 1990 Dodge Ram 150 with the 318 engine that the coil isnt sending fire to the dist...But the coil is good. Could someone help?

Could be a bad coil, or a bad pickup coil inside the distributor, or worst case a bad pcm.

You said the coil is good, but didn't mention if you had tested the coil's primary and secondary circuits with an ohmmeter to see if they are within specs? And the pickup coil is like a crank position sensor: it tells the pcm crankshaft position and rpm so the computer can determine spark timing.

I don't think running new wires will help. Somebody really needs to troubleshoot the system.
You would need to know if the main wire is solid or not between the battery and the alternator, the one you have replaced. Then one small wire goes to the ASD relay and the other goes to the computer. The computer acts as the voltage regulator.

I am trying to get spark to fire the motor in my dodge raider. The ballast resistor and coil had all the wires disconnected. Where do the wires connect back too?

The negative side of the coil goes to ground. The positive side goes to the ballast resistor. The other side of the ballast resistor connects to the ignition switch. More information might be had on manualsonline.com.

There is no spark to my coil for my 1991 dodge ram van

you need to test power to the coil with the key turned to the on position you can supply an alternate power source to the coil but if you forget the power on and turn off the motor the coil will burn out if left power'd up for to long ,here's a bandaid fix * run a wire from the + to a switch then to the coil . and remember to turn it off when you stop the engine and turn it on to energize it . should get you your spark back if you dont want to mess with ignition or pay a garage 80$ lol good luck.

Coil will not spark

If you know where the two wires that went on the old coil were (are) turn the key on and check each for voltage. the one carrying 12v goes to the one marked (+) on the coil. the other wire goes to the (-) side.
Sure wish todays cars were that easy!
