Question about Volkswagen Cars & Trucks

Open Question

I have a VW Polo Vivo 1.4 2010 model, I have a problem it jerks and just cuts power while on the road and stops. I then need to start the car all over again, sometimes it starts immediately and sometimes I have to wait for 5 mins then start the car again.

SOURCE: vw polo car wont start

try disconecting the coolant temp sensor and then try, it may be faulty, also check the hall sender unit in the distributor, if it has one, the centre pin should be the signal wire if no pulse is present the sensor is faulty

SOURCE: 2006 BMW 523i shaking in the mornings

Strange, it sounds like you've got a dead spark plug, but that would be continuous, not only in the morning, the other explanation could be that the engine management is injecting too much fuel, flooding the cylinder, and wetting the spark plug, which would explain why you need to wait 5 mins for the fuel to evaporate. Try disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes to reset the EMS, if that doesn't help, get to a workshop and let them check the EMS with a computer, the electric choke may be sending the wrong signals to the EMS. Hope this helps!

At what mileage should the Cambelt(Chain) on a VW Polo Vivo 1.4 ( 2010 Model ) be changed.

It should be a chain and therefore doesn't need replacement as it is built for the lifetime of the engine.

Check the lower ball joints, lower control arm bushings, sway bar links, and sway bar bushings to the frame. Could be a broken sway bar also.

VW Polo 1998 Model runs fine for about 5 km

check all vacume hoses for splits.this sounds also like air being drawn from the fuel tank sender unit which could be corroded.is there a strong smell of fuel inside the car?this could also be a secondary jet being blocked in the carb if it has one.good luck
