Question about 2004 Mazda Tribute

1 Answer

New battery will not charge

We have replaced the battery in our 2004 mazda tribute. after 1 day, the new battery was completely dead and died right in the middle of the road. We had only replaced the battery because the battery light on the dash was flashing once in a while. we have followed the directions in the manuel on how to reset the system once you have changed the battery, and we have checked the fuses. we have another new battery, but the battery light is still on and we ae afraid this battery will do the same thing.

Check the Belt for Tension. If the Belt Tensioner is even a Little loose it will not allow The Alternator to Charge the Battery. Also Check the Battery Cables. Make sure that they are Clean and have no Corrosion on them.I think that the Problem is the Belt Tensioner or the Alternator Though.

My alternator for my 2004 Mazda Tribute Wont Charge and My Dash Wont work at all.

it is possible that the after market radio is the problem
unless it is installed correctly it may be draining power from the dash wiring or using that schematics as an earth incorrectly
fitting after market radios in modern cars is not a diy effort as the original radios are now attached to the ECM of the car and fitting the radio incorrectly will cause problems

Oil pan replacement for a 2004 Mazda tribute

You can buy an oversized drain plug that will cut new threads. There is no need for replacement of the pan.

Any auto parts store should be able to sell you one.

Alternator problem

1.You need to install a Fully charged battery, before you install a new alternator. Otherwise it will burn the alternator up.

2.I read what you typed about installing a new battery. Was the new battery fully charged, and was it installed before the new alternator?
No?
See number 1 above.

Electricall problem w/2002 V6 mazda tribute

When that light comes on, it is indicating charging system problem which could mean alternator not charging for one reason or another like loose belt, faulty alternator, or yes, bad battery or connection at battery, for example. First & easiest thing to do is check all your connections to battery, which you've probably done, and make sure they're tight & clean. Make sure belt driving alternator is good & tight, and in good shape. Now boost the vehicle to get it going & test voltage at battery, after you take cables off. My guess is in your case, the voltage will begin to go down, indicating a bad alternator, that will need to be replaced.
