Question about 1999 Saab 9-5

Saab 9-5 1999 won't go into reverse

Saab 9-5 1999 has problem of not going into reverse - first it was just pausing or delaying for a second or two before getting into gear now it wont go into reverse at all- when i hit the gas it just revs in place, or goes slightly forward - also having a hard time getting into 1st gear - what is most economical solution if this is transmission

Try to bleed the clutch.

ASE Mechanic:
Try checking the fluid level first, and then look for any leaks. if corrected right away you might not have to rebuild the trans. but other wise look into the cost of a rebuilt transmission.

1996 saab 900s wont shift into reverse gear on a manual transmission

I assume you have owned this car for a while and now how to get into reverse. this problem may be due to worn shifter or bushings to linkage for ****** or shifter, and last may be an internal trans problem. you will need to do some checking . have some one help you as you move the shifter and look for play in the shifter arm or linkage,good day.

Sounds like inside the gearbox As its 2gears i would be looking at these problems first. Fifth and reverse are on same shaft 1) clutch fault 2) lay shaft broken or bearing carrier. Collapsed 3)synchro blocker rings worn

Ignition is in lock position and won't turn on. saab 2000/ 900 3

make sure the stick is in reverse and the key is all the way in the ignition

I had the same problem the only solution was to replace the ignition barrell

Did you check the transmission fluid level? If necessary, add fluid. However you probably have a more serious problem. Take the car to a qualified transmission mechanic.
