Question about 2003 Honda Element

2003 Honda Element Battery, Starter, Solenoid or Altenator

About 6 months ago I had a new battery put into my Element. Then, recently, I had trouble with it starting. It wouldn't make any sound, the key would just turn and nothing else. Then, if I tried it in a few minutes, it would work just fine.

I didn't have the money to have it checked out, so after about two weeks of this, I went to start it one day and couldn't get it to start.

The Exxon around the corner is quoting me about $600 to fix it. I am hoping it might be something other than the starter. They haven't looked at it, just diagnosed it over the phone.

Any ideas?

The problem is your starter. Replace it and it will start just fine. The HONDA starter is not made very well. Low torque.

Im having the same problem. I went to one place and they said I needed a new starter. So I took it to another and they said the wires to the starter were not good and needed to be replaced, they put in a new battery also. Then 2 days later it wouldnt start again. So I took it back they diagnosed it and could not find a issue with it. So the guy told me it is something electrical most probably a relay of a sort. A coworker told me to go to a electrical specialist.

Depending upon how much mileage is on the starter, it could be the source of your trouble.

Check battery voltage. If around 12.5 volts or higher, then check starter motor for fault.

(My best guess at this point is a failed starter motor or solenoid)

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Pick up 5.2 L V8 will not start just clicks. We recently replaced the battery (it's 1 month old), spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil, oil filter, drained the radiator and put some fresh...

If it makes a single click every time you try to start it than the starter is probable bad. Sometimes if you keep trying to start the vehicle the clicking will be enough for the contacts in the solenoid to finally make good contact and allow the starter to finally start the vehicle. If this is the case than replace the starter ASAP.

Starting audi a4, 2.0lt

When it happens, try jumping it directly at the starter solenoid, or checking for power at the solenoid. It could be a safety cut out, like for neutral, clutch pedal, seatbelts, etc.
