    1993 mercury villager dies after 30 miles, then starts when cooled off,how do i change the thermostat ?

    Sounds ike distributor bearing going & blocking optical sensor with brown dust insdie distributor.

Follow the large top radiator hose to the engine,the hose will be connected to a housing with bolts, the thermostat is located below this connection. Drain the coolant out of the radiator,undo the bolts,and gently pry the housing from the engine and remove thermostat. take old one with you to match it with new one.

99-02 essentially the same. villager & quest identical vans.

1999 Mercury Villager will not run more than ten minutes. After about a minute or so,it starts running worse and then finally shuts down.


it is the cam sensor in the distributor. must replace distributor. import experts on ebay $200
very common on 99.
