SOURCE: How to replace tensioner pulley on 2000 Dodge Neon

Make sure you locate the Serpentine Belt Routing Sticker before you proceed. If not make an excellent drawing and take a GOOD Picture. Do NOT try to just remember how it goes back on Should be a 15mm wrench to loosen tensioner to remove belt. Locate mounting bolts to tensioner and remove, replace with NEW tensioner tighten bolts then use wrench arc torque about 15 degrees should snug it down, reroute belt then using 15mm pull tensioner to either side of belt to install belt in correct route. Remove all tools and body parts from engine bay. Do not start engine if anyone is in the vicinity of engine bay. Belt may fly off if you did not do it right and cause all kinds of shrapnell, if it doesn't fly off, visually inspect belt before starting and after, I would suggest being very careful before during and after starting to insure safety.

SOURCE: how to replace belt tension pulley for dodge neon 2002

The power steering and A/C belt is tensioned by a tensioner pulley. Mine went bad and was "screaming" I thought it was the power steering pump and I replaced it only to find that it wasn't the problem. I couldn't find any bolts and deemed it too much of a problem for me to replace at home. The shop had to drop the engine and transaxle assembly from the engine bay in order to get enough room to replace the pulley. The problem with many FWD cars is having enough room to work so if you have to replace it, the engine has to move because you only have about two inches of room otherwise.

What are the causes of my 2002 dodge neon not starting after i changed the tensioner pulley

Unless you have damaged or disconnected some electrical component in the engine bay whilst you were working on the car there should be no connection between the car not starting and the work you carried out. Just replacing the belt tensioner unit and refitting the serpentine belt correctly would have no impact the the starting condition of the engine. If you have removed and refitted other components on the engine to get access to the tensioner unit or the belt I would very carefully go back over your work.

You don't say in your post if the engine is cranking and not starting or if you have a no crank/no start condition.

remove the belt, then remove the pulley, you may need a tensioner bar or sometimes a 3/8 ratchet will fit. when you instal the new one there may be a keyway or alignment dowel, besure it slides into place before tightening it down

You have to remove the whole bracket that the tensioner assembly is attached to then you can get at the bolts that holed the tensioner and pulley together to service. Have fun.

How do i get the old tension pully off of my 00 plymouth neon

Hello.
There should be some bolts that hold the pulley on to the motor. Check behind the bracket, I believe they are the bolt size of 9/16. If you are trying to get the serpentine belt off, you can also just have someone hold the pulley away from the belt as you maneuver the belt off the pulleys.
Hope this helps! -Steve

How to tighten altenator belt on a 95 dodge neon . I see no way of getting my hands in there to do it.

You cannot tighten the belt. It is the Tension arm/pulley's job to do so. If the belt is loose, then it either means the belt needs to be replaced, its the wrong belt, its routed wrong, or the tension pulley/arm is bad.
