Hi from the uk if the clutch pedal has gone soft ie spongy and you have difficulty engaging gears ? your clutch is hydraulic operated so may i suggest the 1st thing to check is the fluid in the reservoir the brake fluid reservoir also feeds the clutch master cylinder also SO if the fluid level is low /empty on one side of reservoir ? you will have a fluid leak on the clutch somewhere most probably the slave cylinder this is the one at the gearbox/clutch housing if you follow pipework ? it will lead to slave cyl and you may see fluid has leaked hope this helps ? come back e mail with your discovery and may be able to advise on putting it right ? and hopefully save you $$$$$s in repairs at garage ie diy ?

Transmission won t shift

A bad clutch or an out of adjustment clutch will do that. Otherwise it's most likely something gone wrong with the transmision.

do you mean it wont go into gear ? if so what gears ? it could be the clutch going out , if the pedal is soft or easy to push down than it probably needs a clutch. next time it wont go into gear try pumping the clutch or putting it from 2nd to 1st or what ever gear it has problems with

Transmission wont shift it will go to 2 nd but not to third . but it takes it to be to the floor to make it shift to 2

I take it that you have a hydraulic clutch and you are saying that after 2nd gear there is no more clutch pedal . If that is the case replace the clutch slave cylinder and the clutch master cylinder as either or both is allowing the oil be bypass the pistons and cups.

Clutch is soft and hard to get into a gear

your clutch master or clutch slave cylinder or both have gone bad. you can check either by pulling the rubber boot on them if you see fluid its bad.

I have a 2005 Saturn Vue and will not shift into gears. We have bleed the clutch hydraulic system as the repair manuel states, but I still cannot shift gears.

there could be a few reasons as to why you have this problem. one reason could be is that your shifter cables have gone out, reason could be your syncros have gone bad which synchronizes gear shifting, take your shifter tower off and see if theres any indication of breakage into the transmission or if the tower just slipped over one of the gear shifters and caused it to bind, if theres no indication of any of those i would pull the tranny and see if your clutch is binding, warped fly wheel, or if you need a new clutch job

I have a 89 toyota pickup 4 speed. When I'm stopped at a stop light, and let out on the clutch it seems like it has lost pressure. When I'm shifting down the road it shifts fine. I checked the fluid and it...

this sounds like the clutch slave is goin out, this unit is on the outside of the transmission. Possibly losing pressure!! Your transmission does not use transmission fluid, but instead gear oil. Have the following checked:
1. Clutch Slave (possibly worn)-this will cause soft or hard clutch pedal feel, slipping clutch, unintended clutch release, hard gear engagement, no/insufficient clutch movement.

*2. Clutch pedal Mounting Plate (possibly cracked)-this will cause improper gear engagement, hard gear engagement, soft pedal feel, insufficient clutch movement.

*this plate is located above the clutch pedal itself, apply pressure on the pedal with one hand while inspecting the plate for fatigue cracks(use a bright flashlight). This is very common on these models. This problem will eventually get worst and most mechanics never figure this out.

1989 jeep wrangler wont shift gear and clutch gone loose

Get the clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder looked at.One of the 2 has failed. If the pedal goes to the floor or is very loose, this is very likely the cause. Not an expensive fix.Hope this helps

I beleive the clutch is gone

it does not sound like it. a worn out clutch will let the engine rev under load without the vehicle accelerating. does the clutch work properly taking off in 1st gear? if yes the clutch is not the problem
