What does the o/d off light on the dashboard stand for on a 1999 toyota avalon?

The over-drive acts like an extra high gear in the gearbox and will assist in reducing fuel consumption when cruising.
There is an overdrive on/off switch fitted to many cars as the overdrive 'gear' will sometimes become a nuisance if climbing a hill for example, where the driver may desire the car to stay in a relatively low gear. The overdrive can sometimes cause the gearbox to keep changing from low to high in certain circumstances, when the driver demands more manual control of the gearbox.
The overdrive is generally preferred to stay on during the majority of the time.

Fuel light is on

The typical cause for this is a low fuel level; indicating that your tank will be empty soon. It is never used in the automotive industry to indicate a problem with fuel quality, or the performance of your fuel system. Only for volume.
Adding a few gallons should immediately cause this light to shut off. If it does not, then there is an electrical contact problem in the dashboard cluster located between your fuel level guage and the low fuel indicator light that you are seeing. It is likely that the switch is simply stuck. A few well placed taps on the dashboard may remedy this annoying driver distraction for you.

Dashboard Lights - "brake lamp" light stays lit/ dashboard bulb for gas gauge burned out

you can remove the cluster and buy the bulb separate as far as the brake light it is either the float is bad in the master cyl. or you have low frt brake pads
