Check for a short in the keyless enter pad on the drivers door and also check the trunk, glove box to make sure these lights are going off and also have the air ride suspension checked out because ours was killing the battery all the time until I put marine battery post ends on the battery and I disconnect the battery when it is not driven

New alternator, new battery, new belt, and new alternator relay and battery still won't charge. And now headlights won't turn off. Car keeps dying, and won't hold a charge to the battery.

Hello Just a hunch but before you started replacing everything did you test the alternator for proper voltage and now with the new one in with vehicle running what is the voltage? The reason i ask this many people just start replacing parts for no reason ! might not have ever been the charging system or battery, If the lights are staying on there is a reason. What i do is test engine running for the voltage at battery should be 13.7 14.4 somewhere in there, if not then that's where the problem is. if voltage is good then check battery disconnected for voltage- then a few hours later or get it load tested-if all is good with battery then now we check for short and a draw on the battery. This will take time but no cost. use volt meter reconnect battery and make sure vehicle is not running doors are closed if possible and watch the voltage drop to kill battery as u pull fuses one at a time-reason for this is to see what fuse is running what is drawing the power, once you know then you can start checking what is on that fuse and trace the short

My 2001 Dodge Stratus won't start.

Try to install a known good battery. Not just the booster cables. See what happens if everything comes on, then buy a new battery if it works.

Look for all fuses relay switches that say battery or plus on it. Check that they are not burned out . It seems that the current was cut from the car entirely. it can also be the ECU or Electronic Computer Unit.

This is definitely not normal that everything just turned turned off like that.

Van wont start .checked alternator. fuses and brand new battery still wont start. van started acting u when fuse to rad fan went out. engine light came on but since we live in cold area never heated up....

I think you're over your head here. Take it to a professional mechanic and let her sort it out. Sounds like your alternator isn't putting out the correct voltage.

I have 05 kia rio. jump started dead battery but the cables were crossed and killed it instead. purchased new battery. car stuck in park. worked when screwdriver in override button but still won'

There is a large maxi-fuse between the battery and alternator. Its at least 100 amp or more. It may be in the cable at the battery, or in one of the fuse boxes.
You may also have damaged the key switch or the brake circuit.
You may have to get a book to get the wiring diagrams to check everything involved.

My 350 engine in my 1983 cutlas loses power, but has new battery and alternater. gotta get boost to start car.

if it started having this problem after you put in a new alternator, it could be an improperly connected alternator. if not, something electrical could be staying on which would kill the battery. however if you shut it off, and immediately you try to start it and it will not start (turn ignition off, and less than 10 seconds later it still wont), then its probably something with the alternator.

Auto zone say my 2003 e250 ford alternator is ,good but it kills the battery

Even the people you said that the alternator is good and you still loosing battery, why don't you ask them to do a power leak test,`like any circuit on radio, lights body contacts leak. Probably you might have somewhere something killing your battery. If what I said is already done, just do a final test by changing the alternator and see the outcome.

Car will not turn over, when lights first come on before trying to start they slowly get dimmer. Just makes a clicking sound, bought new battery in 2009. tested alt. at that time said it was fine. could it...

If your lights start getting dimmer when they first come on before trying to start, it is a very good indication that your battery is almost dead. You need to make sure your alternator belt is tight, then charge the battery fully, and then try starting it. If you have a tester, you can test the voltage, but to test it properly, you really need a battery load tester. 2009 is long enough back to warrant checking your alternator, again. What you can do is first charge the battery and try starting your car. If that works, your starter is fine. Then, with the car running, everything else turned off, check your battery voltage with a simple volt meter. Then turn on all the lights, heater, and anything else. Check the voltage, again. It should not drop, if your alternator is good. Leave the lights and accessories on for a while, then check the voltage again. If it has dropped, your alternator is not working properly. Get it fixed or replace it.

93 LX 5.0 replaced battery, ran fine then would not start

sounds like you have a good battery, get the car started put a voltmeter to wire connected to the back of your alternator. if you have at least 13.25 volts you have a good unit if any lower replace the alternator
the click sound you are hearing comes from your relay it is getting low voltage from the battery. because the battery has no juice caused by a bad alternator

hope to help shack
