1990 Jeep heater blows cold air

The heater in the jeep is blowing cole air. Luke warm at its best. We have changed the thermostat twice now thinking we had gotten a bad one and we also have changed the water pump. We tried the taking the radiator cap off and letting it run to get the air out of the system and so far nothing has worked. Would appreciate any help at all that anyone has as it is cold here and they are calling for snow and we really need it to be on the road. Thanks!!

the heater hoses do get warm..they are both the same temp. and when you turn on the ac the air is definately colder!! I do not hear a popping noise when you move the knob. The fan blows great and if it isnt real cold then it isnt too bad..lol. I am not for sure where to find the blend door? or the actuator?

Do the heater hoses get warm?
if its warmed up and you turn the temp to cold does it get colder?
when you turn the temp to hot do you hear a pop like something is binding?
it may be just a problem with blend door or the actuator

Jeep liberty heater

if there is not even luke warm air coming from the heater it may be caused by the blend air door motor. on some of the jeeps they came out with a new upper heater housing that was a new design. I believe if your vehicle had this update the dealer would be able to check TSB's for the cause. other wise like I said, most likely the blend air door and/or motor

2005 jeep liberty blows cold air through the heater.

could be the thermostat if it was just stating to go bad, could also be a vacume problem not letting the door for the ac/heat close all the way for a few min.and if its really cold out like below 35,then its going to take longer to warm up,my jeep takes like around 20 min at idle to warm up.yours could be a case of over cooling in cold weather too ie(electric fans on before it warms up)that would be the thermostatic sensor.

My 2003 Jeep Liberty heater is blowing cold air when idling. Warms up when you hit the accelerator. I also hear a water rolling sound upon take off after idling. Water pump? Heater Core?

Water level perhaps. When you hit the accelerator the water volume increases. Check your water level and make sure that your thermostat is opening and closing properly. Water level I'm thinking

It is likely you have air in the system. Park on an incline, take the radiator cap off, start the car, let it warm up until the thermostat opens, fill the radiator until it stops going down. See if that doesn't get you some hot air. If not, try the other steps I have in my post at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6235876-no_heat_fan_blowing_cold_air . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me.

I already changed the thermostat on my 2002 Jeep Cherokee and the heat actually seemed like it was working but now it is not blowing any heat at all. What could be the problem?

Air in the system or a clogged heater core. If it's air in the system, it needs to be burped. Click on my screenname, go down to Tips and Tricks, and follow the tip there on how to do so.

If the heater core is clogged, you'll need to blow it free. Follow the two heater core hoses from the firewall out to the engine. Disconnect them both, put one in a bucket, and use the blowgun attachment for an air compressor to blow into the other one. Then swap - put the one you blew into, in the bucket, and blow into the one that was in the bucket the first time. Reconnect the heater core hoses, and burp the system (again, follow the Tip instructions for that). Usually that will take care of it.

Sounds like you need a blower motor resistor located down under dash on pass side next to blower motor. This is a comon problem and I have changed many of them. thats just the fan speed problem. Ive seen the blend doors break easily on those jeeps. thats inside the heaer core box and moves the flap from hot air to cold air. If it is stuck halfway -or mostly to cold- you may only get luke warm air. If they had the heater core out-maybe they possibly broke it.
