If it is blowing oil, you have bad compression and bad piston rings. At a minimum, pull the plugs one at a time to see if they are oil fouled and clean, then replace them. That may get it running.

My 2005 gmc canyon just started blowing smoke out tail pipe but it doesnt do it everytime i start it. is this bad?

Possibly a leak in the head gasket. Take out the plugs and see if they are water wet. Run a compression check.

When i went through a puddle my 2005 dogde magnum got water in engine oil through tail pipe and car wont crank over?

It won't get through the exhaust unless it was under water for days, it would have gone through the air intake and now you have hydraulic lock, you need to remove the spark plugs and then turn the engine over to blow all the water out, don't try and start the engine as you will bend something and the Conrod will be the first to go, hope this helps

1990 Geo metro popped and poured white smoke out

its a GEO POPPER.
"no oil up on crank case"

no idea what that means.??????
yes PCV valve. do clog.

white smoke at end if tail pipe.
you didnt say where,?

white smoke has 2 reasons.(tail end)
Steam and oil.
steam goes away fast and looks just like moms tea pot. and smells sweet, like the antifreeze in engine. (rad cap off ,sniff sniff, cold engine)

oil burning, smoke is very very slow to go away.
and smells like , blush burned oil.
if not sure what burn oil looks like or smells like
take out the dip stick on a hot engine
let it drip to the hot exhaust manifold there.
now you know. and is a key diagnostic skill.

no oil seen on dip stick end?, you mean that?
well you need to keep that from happening,
doing weekly service, and for sure old cars.
26 years old.

low oil invites blowing up a good engine.
for sure.
if it did that smoke is oil
if it did 10x worse, both .

my wild guess is you meant to say
I didnt see oil leaking on top of engine.
right?

if the engine backwires to the air cleaner
you forgot to replace the cam belt every 60k miles
the pcv will also be clogged, on cars not getting proper service, super colon.
if the PCV clogs, engine may leak oil bad.

this engine btw is a G10 3 cylinder.
with TBI injection.
we can talk TBI all day, owned one.

white smoke can come from many places
exhaust manifold, leaks of oil can land there
engine can back fire to air cleaner making smoke.
tail end.
steam is much worse. ill not delve in to that yet/.

Air in radiator hoses

Is there air because you did something with the cooling system? Air in the hoses can mean different things depending on what's been recently done to the car. If you have done anything to the car then just try adding some coolant to the res. If it's eating coolant then I'd be looking at your head gaskets. Check your oil and make sure it's not milky looking. Check your coolant and make sure there's no oil in it. If you start your car in the morning and it has water coming out the tail pipes, take a clear glass jar and hold it over the tail pipe (s) let the water build up for a few minutes. The water should be clear. If the water has a green or red tint to it. Then you've got a blow head gasket and that's where the air is coming from, and if that is the case, if you do not have the gaskets fixed the engine will blow, it's only a matter of time.

Heating has stoped working and there is a little water in the oil, think radiator may be leaking, does my car just need a new rad

water in the oil will turn the oil brown like mud,is that what you see? if so,then you have a blown head gasket,do not run motor if this is the case as the motor wiil spin a crank bearing or lock up.are you sure about the water in the oil? look for real brown oil just like mud with bubbles on the oil dipstick. if the heats stopped working it may be because the radiator's low on fluid. look in the radiator for low coolant,if you can't see the coolant when you remove the radiator cap,it's low. with engine cool, remove the radiator cap 1st then start the engine. do you see steam and fluid blowing up frome the radiator? if so,you have a blown head gasket in the motor. head gaskets can blow and leak water into the oil or oil into the radiator. or blow and leak into the exhaust sysytem and blow coolant out of the tail pipe. three different ways for a head gasket to blow. usually the head gasket only blows when the engine has been run really hot!!! hope this helps.thank you for choosing fixya .com

Cylinder 3 misses and has carbon biuld up on plug also looks to have oil on the plug, smell like oil is burning , smokes alot out of tail pipe, oil consumtion is a qt, per 300 miles and it looks like oil is...

Geez!

U got a bad piston rings! U have to pull down the PiSTON to replace the PiSTON RiNGS, oil is getting in ur combustion!

Or

Check also the valve guide oil seal, hope that is the faulty one! 'Cause replacing PiSTON RiNGS will cost a LOT!

Check on that first, Oil in ur air filter means a BLOW BACK gas from ur combustion is pushing the oil into the air filter!

BLOW BACK is a residual combustion air that should have been burned or gone thru the exhaust, but w/ poor seal of ur piston ring, it goes into ur CRANK CASE and into ur EGR system w/ excess oil!

Hope that explains everything!

I changed the oil in my 2001 Impala 3.8 and noticed the oil had a gasoline smell.

Some smell is normal if it has been quite sometime between oil changes. This happens more with short distance driving.

How does it get there?

Through cylinder blow by when the engine is cold. The piston rings leak minuscule amounts into the oil which add up over time.

If you are having no other running issues (IE black/drk grey smoke out tail pipe with oil residue on pipe tip) I would not be alarmed by this.

White smoke coming out of the tail pipe after taking off.

White smoke continuously blowing out from the tail pipe ? If it is only at the cold position it is normal, if it is always coming out it means oil consumed & compression is week. spark plug frequently needed ? If plug frequently shorted u need to overhaul or need to add oil treatment for increase viscosity.

I have a 1995 chevy p/u with a 4.3 when i crank it up it blows smoke out the tail pipe but when i am driving it it runs good! when i come to a stop the oil pressure will drop and smoke out of the pipe...

sounds like u need a gas treatment r maybe an oil treatment, build ups of bad gas can be one reason that would cause such a situation,go pick one up at your local dollar store, its where i get mines from, same products autozone and other places sell, same products but cheaper price.
