SOURCE: No spark?

Hi, common thing with the mazda was the coil or the ignition amplifier going faulty, both of which are located within the distributor, the coil ususally gives the symptoms you describe, a weak spark. The coil is the most common failure aswell for your vehicle i would recommend a new one, also make sure distributor is spinning as it could just be a case of a broken timing belt.

Good luck Davelee

I would be thinking that there is a good chance that you need to be checking out replacing the computer, if you aren't getting any communication with the proper scan tool then the computer isn't communicating with anything in the vehicle...... I would have guessed first off that the ignition control module might be bad but that is obviously part of the computer also, I would be looking in that direction.

Weber carb fitted to a Ford Courier 3.4 ltr. engine has just started running away with high revs

Sounds like it's sticking. With the engine OFF, remove air filter and housing. Spray entire carborator liberally with carborator cleaner. Concentrate on all linkages, floats, and hinges. Start engine and see if this resolved the problem. If not, it may need to be rebuilt by an experienced mechanic.

My suzuki vitara with 2 ltr peugeot engine after power washing engine going into limp mode??

You likely got water into the distributor cap or spark plug wires. Get some wire dryer spray from your local auto parts store and spray the inside of the wires on both ends and remove the distributor cap ( if so equipped) and spray it liberally too. Give everything about 2 minutes to dry, then replace. Do the wires 1 at a time, so you don't change the cylinder order they go to.

My 1997 suzuki jx 1.6 ltr starts when cold but at opperating temp it needs about 30 min to cool before it will start again.

I don't know anything about these models, but my first guess would be to check the ECT(engine coolant temp) sensor and wiring. Sounds like the ECM thinks the engine is cold all the time. High resistance in the temp sensor circuit will cause a colder then normal reading at the ECM.

1993 anniversary corvette problems

Have you had a water pump replaced lately? If so water may have got to the distributor and causing the car to act that way. When it gets hot is shuts down. Sometimes it will take awhile to restart. They put the distributor right in behind the water pump and any water leaks from pump will 99% of the time fry the distributor, if not caught.

Distributor screws missing

on a Honda the 2 bolts holding the distributor to the headare at the base of the distributor 1 is a pivot bolt one is an adjustment stop for the advance and retard adjustment tif those bolts are not present the distributor will seperate from the camshaft worst case scenario making the engine unable to deliver spark and the eengine will not run.

While driving down the road my car sputtered and stalled. got it back starte adnd went about a mile and it did it again only would not start again. 94 dodge shadow 2.2 ltr engine. fuel filter, pump or

The symptoms you are describing could be caused by several things. However, that engine is known for failures in the ignition pick-up coil. When it fails, it is usually after driving the car for a while until it gets hot. The engine dies and the engine cools off a little and it can start back up like you are describing, only to fail again when the heat builds back up. It usually starts out as an intermittent problem which gets worse by occuring more and more often and finally ends up to where the engine will not restart at all.
This is the first thing I would check. If the engine starts again, the failure can usually be reproduced by wiggling and tugging slightly on the wires to the pickup coil going into the distributor.

The pickup coil ismounted inside the distributor under the cap and rotor assemblies and looks like the picture below.

Installing distributor for 1979 Ford f-150 V-8 302

If the engine is cranked (disturbed) with the distributor removed, it will now be necessary to retime the engine.
  1. Rotate the engine so that No.1 piston is at TDC of the compression stroke.
  2. Align the timing marks to the correct ignition timing shown on the underhood decal.
  3. Install the distributor with the rotor in the No.1 firing position and any armature pole aligned with a stator pole.
Make sure that the oil pump intermediate shaft properly engages the distributor shaft. It may be necessary to rotate the engine after the distributor gear is partially engaged in order to engage the oil pump intermediate shaft and fully seat the distributor in the block.
  1. If it was necessary to rotate the engine to align the oil pump, repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3.
  2. Install the holddown bolt finger tight.
  3. Install the distributor cap and wires.
  4. Connect the distributor wring connector to the wiring harness. Tighten the holddown bolt.
  5. Install the air cleaner, if removed.
  6. Check the ignition timing as outlined in Section 2.
  7. When everything is set, tighten the holddown bolt to 25 ft. lbs.
