If the above didn't work, spray the latch with a electrical cleaner and follow with a silicone spray. Works almost every time...

Try spraying wd40 or any rust penetrant into the door latches. Open and close the doors several times to unstick switches.

2002 lincoln towncar door ajar light s stay on after minor accident. Only goes off when in drive. Can't find the fuse. I have to disconnect the battery

You have one or more door ajar sensor switches that are defective, have the BCM (Body control module) scanned to see which door is causing it, the light can be turned on by any of the 4 doors. The sensor is located inside the door on the door latch mechanism, there is no fuse as it is a ground circuit.

Door ajar switch is bad or you have a wiring problem ! Which door ?
B1322 Door Ajar Driver Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . B1323 Door Ajar Lamp Circuit Failure GEM/CTM REFER to Section 413-01 . B1325 Door Ajar Lamp Circuit Short to Battery GEM/CTM REFER to Section 413-01 . B1330 Door Ajar RF Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . B1334 Decklid Ajar Rear Door Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . B1338 RR Door Ajar Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . Inspection and Verification
  1. NOTE: The generic electronic module (GEM)/central timer module (CTM) must be reconfigured upon replacement. Refer to the scan tool help screen on the configuration card to program the tire size and axle ratio.
The warning lamps are a GEM/CTM controlled system; refer to Section 419-10 .
  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the system in question.
  1. Visually inspect for the following obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

    Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
    • Switch(es)
    • Fuse(s)
    • Damaged wiring harness
    • Loose or corroded connections
    • Circuitry
    • Bulb
  1. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect the scan tool to the data link connector (DLC) located beneath the instrument panel and select the vehicle to be tested from the scan tool menu. If the scan tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is properly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  1. If the scan tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the New Generation STAR Tester manual.
  1. Perform the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If scan tool Tester responds with:
    • CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70 = ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for GEM/CTM, go to Pinpoint Test E.
    • SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and perform self-test diagnostics for the GEM/CTM.
  1. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the GEM/CTM Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics.
  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.

Car ajar light and alarm goes off on 2005 tribute

Pits one of the five door ajar switches. They are located in the door latch mechanism that holds the door closed. The best way to figure out which one it is is to scan the body control module. With all the doors closed. It will tell you which door is giving the open signal. This will need to be done with a high end scan tool that any good shop or the dealer will have. The most common one to fail is the driver front door.

Door ajar light stays on

Why is it that a door can be ajar but a jar cannot be a door? - Always wondered about that one....:)

On a more serious note: Ford Explorers are notorious for the door ajar switches going bad. I have seen them com on by themselves when the vehicle is parked and cause the battery to go dead because they will turn the dome lamps on also.

Most of the time it is the driver's door that has the problem, but ANY of the doors COULD be tha cause. It would be best to scan the computer system and look at the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) data to see which door is showing "open" when you have all the doors closed. Otherwise, you may have to disassemble ALL of the doors to find the culprit if replacing the switch in the driver's door does not fix the problem. The first picture below shows the switch itself. The second picture shows how the switch is mounted in the door latch mechanizm inside the door panel.

Dorr ajar light is on

this problem is caused by a sticking door ajar sensing micro switch inside the door on the door latch, it is a twist in switch, in your car there are 4 switches, one for each side door and 2 for the hatch, since replacing them is labor intensive have the local Ford dealer scan the system, the scanner can see which particular switch is causing the light to stay on.

Door ajar light stays on

A door ajar switch is probably bad but some suggestions say to open the door spray the latches with some penetrating oil open and shut the doors a few times.Sometimes this method does work temporarily. The best solution would be to hook up a scan tool that is capable of determining which door it views as being ajar. Some of these models have just a door ajar switch attached to the the door latch mechanism others may require the door latch to be replaced.

Is there a fuse or relay that can be blown by lightning?

Obviously all the sensors that control everything that is lighting up in your vehicle are not communicating correctly with the vehicle's computer. You can take your vehicle to your local autozone, they will scan and reset the computer codes for you for free. If that doesn't correct your issues, I would replace the vehicles computer.

Door ajar light in dash is on along with interior lights

the door switches for that year explorer are actually found inside the door panels, built into the door latch. they are a real pain to change out. the only way really to determine which door it is (it could also be the rear hatch) is to use a scan tool to view door ajar data, then change that one switch.

'02 explorer woes

Ok...several issues, and you won't believe this.......The 4 wheel drive is controlled by the Body computer, thats right, there is a computer that monitors and instructs Body functions like the door ajar sensors.Well,i just finished reading a technical article on a FORD that had no 4 wd,and the transfer case controller would not allow 4wd operation because the BODY computer sensed a door ajar,so 4wd operation was inhibited. They fixed the door ajar problem,a door sensor, the door ajar light went out on the dash, and the 4wd started working again...OK.....Check engine light is the vehicle computer that controls engine and transmission functions(PCM) has detected an error with a system. When this happens, the computer stores a diagnostic trouble code.Have the codes pulled with a scan tool or code reader.Repair the codes, and the Check Engine light will go out.The power windows,i honestly don't know, but HEY...2 out of 3 ain't bad!!
