1956 is easy.
You will run a hot wire from the fuse box or battery or whatever to the switch, where ever you make that to be, then to the motor or the window. The motor should not have a ground wire, unless it is a new motor. All motors up to about 1980 - had only one hot wire ( with the exception that a few window motors had two wires, one to make the window go up and one to make the window go down.)
ALL those old motors HAD to be well grounded, so you will need to be sure of that.
If you try to put a newer motor ( they have more than one wire) in an older car, one of those wires will need to be grounded.

The 1956 lineup boasted its first Road master Riviera hardtop sedan: $3,692, 24,779 built. Yes, these are nice cars. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1956 ford customline 292t,b.special;my heater will not operate & no hot air out of vents. 1956 ford customline [292 thunderbird special engine]

usually this is air trapped in the system. Try leaving the cap loose on cold start and run engine until upper hose gets hot (ie thermostat opens). That should burp air. Then keep system full as it cools down. so it uscks coolant back in as it cools. Then, tighten cap.
