If you have to add brake fluid theres something wrong, you might have a fluid leak at one of your wheels, or a line, the master cylinder or you might need to have your brakes replaced, when your pads were down this pushes the piston in the brake caliper out causing the fluid in the brake reservoir to drop

Whoa, there is a line marked on the fluid reservoir that you do not fill above. Be careful to make sure that you don't get dust/debris inside the reservoir. The owners manual and the reservoir have markings to tell you what type of fluid should be used.

Try disconnecting the connector from the reservoir. Test the circuit by shorting the terminals in the connector. If putting a shorting pin (paper clip ok) in and out between the 2 terminals makes the light go off and on, the circuit is working, and the switch is bad. If the light stays on even with the connector off, there is a short in the wiring.

If you recently had a brake job done, they were not properly bled.
Air in the brake curcuit would cause this situation. If the brake feels spongey, it IS air. Have it rebled.
