SOURCE: Does the 2003 Toyota Corolla Z1 motor have a timing belt or chain

I don't believe it has a belt !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The one I have 2003 Toyota Corolla has timing chain.
And I think all 2003 Toyota Corolla have timing chains.
So don't let them ( workshops) lie to you.
You can browse the internet to see if yours has a timing belt or timing chain?
Just put same question in the Google, yahoo, or about.com and search
they'll direct you to so money sites, which will show u if
yours has a timing belt or timing chain!

SOURCE: how to change the timing chain tensioner

I recommend you go down to auto part store and get yourself a Haynes auto repair manual. Its a long process and I doubt anyone want to do a-lot of typing explaining the process. This way you get clear detail step by step instruction plus if you plan to do your own repair in the future, the book will come handy. the book runs around 18-20 bucks, its worth all the money. Good luck!!!

2005 Toyota Corolla 1400 vvti. Replaced timing chain. Now, when it starts why is it very noisy?

If you have a lot of chatter coming from the timing cover area, it could mean that the chain guides were left loose or that the VVT actuator plunger was not released when re-installed or it may have jammed and is not able to keep tension on the chain.

I have a 2004 corolla and has a timing chain making noise , now i pull the timing cover out but forgot to align the marks, and i think i move my camshaft now i need to set the marks again , what u think

me think you um not give enough information.
You changed the belt?
Just reset it to tdc and align the marks like you were doing it for the first time.
If it is off a degree it will run. It will not run good.
Replace the tensioners when this done yes.
Align marks and reinstall.

Is there a timing belt or chain.

The 2000 Toyota Corolla will have a timing chain. Earlier models have the Belt. The chain is pretty much maintenance free. When it is time to replace it you will usually start to hear a rattle where the chain is losing tension and is vibrating against the chain guide.

chains are made to last for the life of the engine at 200k you might want to check the chain guides tha'ts all. you are thinking of the belts they had to be changed at about 80k.
