SOURCE: Won't shift out of park
check to make sure you have brake lights when trying to shift if not check the brake lamp switch if it is ok you might need a shift interlock solenoid

It sounds like the shifter lock out solenoid has gone bad.It is a solenoid that releases the shifter when you push the brake pedal.

DIsconnext and reconnect the linkage at the transmission. You may want top replace the linkage cable all together. Make sure you set the parking break and block the tires

SOURCE: gear shift stuck in park....can
yes it is, it gets a ground instead of a positive because it comes off the brake pedal being pushed in, so you may have to change it. like i said before it will be located above the brake pedal and a bar from the pedal will be touching the switch pin.
