Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2012 jeep wrangler 4 door. When it is cold outside and I try to accelerate my jeeps cuts out and back fires. It is a manual tranny only 11000 miles. Been to the dealer twice and they can't find a problem

Check air filter and housing to see if filter is clean and air flow is not blocked by anything. Check throttle positioning sensor with Ohm Meter for proper ranges. Check plug wires and replace if necessary. Check timing belt and pulleys to see if they are slipping or worn, replace as needed.

Remove the inner door panel and check to make sure that the linkage rod that goes between the outer handle and the latch is connected. It's possible that the plastic end clip broke.

1994 jeep wrangler 4.0 idles fine but when traveling cuts in and out and backfires when accelerator is pushed, i do have a cold air intake and jet performance module just recently added

1994 Wrangler with 200,000 miles on the odometer. Similar problem here: Severe bucking and backfiring, and engine misses when traveling down the road. I did an entire tune-up (plugs, wires, distributor, distributor cap, and ignition coil), but got the same thing. I thought it was dirty fuel injectors, so, I poured a bottle in a few times on fill-ups. The final solution, was a bad alternator. My mechanic said it was sending voltage spikes to the computer, causing the engine bucking and back-firing problems.

06 Jeep Wrangler making a loud clincking or grinding when turning

Hi there,

By any chance is the transfer case engaged?

A locked drive train could account for the noise being made only on turns.

Bring the transfer case to neutral then back to 2-high.

Or try to duplicate the problem by putting it into 4-high. THAT way the dealership would know exactly what to look at.

Its going to be hard to find tranny parts for that car I just put a new tranny in from the junk yard with 70k miles for $200 its in perfect operating condition.
