Looks like the compressor pumps' clutch drive may have issues..turn the compressor center hub by hand(with the engine off) and see if it turns somewhat easily without much resistance... now between this hub and the belt pulley is an electric operated clutch that when turned on by the ac controls inside, causes the entire assembly to rotate.. if the clutch is worn or deficient it can smoke.. also if the compressor is locked up the clutch will smoke..(smells like hot brakes).. if its a pulley bearing problem the drive belt will slip and squeal or smell of burning rubber.. if its not needed at this time remove the belt entirely and dont worry about it until it gets warmer outside...repost findings thnx

2000 ford crown victoria ... a small metal on metal sound coming from what seems to be the a/c clutch assembly im not sure if the pulley is going out or the whole assembly please add any questions or...

There should be some shim space between the pulley and the assembly. If the pulley is wobbling that is a problem. If it wobbles or your belt looks out of alignment going around the pulleys or has excessive belt play then you would need to address that concern. It also could be a rider pulley. Sometimes you can narrow down sounds with a stethoscope. I'd also check the pulley under the timing chain cover (with a stethoscope is easiest for that one). The other pulleys and belt you can put your finger of a ruler on the edge of the pulley and feel for vibration, there shouldn't be any. Be mindful of the fan while doing this and keep your sleeves rolled up.

Serpentine Belt is Tearing

if the pulley has play then replace it. guarinteed. the play is allowing the belt to pull on the belt in such a way that its allowing the belt to pull foreward on it instead of into it and is causing damage. once you replace it then check every single turn point that belt does to see if its dead straight. not close enough, dead precision straight. if you put something straight like a square steel rod on the fronts of each pulley and check that over the gap that the rod pretty much touches both sides of each pully face. that will guarintee you that those pulleys are in line. if you put the rod on one pulley and the other pulley is 20mm or 3/4 of an inch out then the pulley thats out needs to be re aligned. your best true solution to this issue is fix the pulley problem then trade it in. you are going to have a lot of issues with it within the next 50 thousand now that the engines taken a whack and the transmission is out of line.

I need to know where the crankshaft position sensor is located on my jeep grand cherokee

The crankshaft position sensor is located around the crank. Look for a stubby piece of plastic aimed at the edge of the crank pulley. The crank pulley is in central pulley which all the belts are ultimately driven from. It will be in the center-line & bottom of the front of the engine. Typically they are ~45deg off to a side. It's possible you may not be able to remove it without first removing the crank pulley.

How to change/remove an alternator belt on a 1998 chevy cavalier z24

There is a tensioner in the front of the motor. It looks like a pulley on an arm. The front of the tensioner has a square spot. You can get on that with a 3/4" or I think a 19mm wrench. Rotate the whole thing counter clockwise. This will release the tension on the belt. With your other hand, or an assistant slide the belt off of the alternator pulley. You can let the tensioner down now. Go easy because it will go further than it was before. You dont want to loose any skin off of your knuckles!

There should be a belt routing diagram under there somewhere. Run it around everything else then pull it up to the alternator pulley again. Again pull the tensioner up. Slip the belt onto the pulley and let go. Get a light and make sure that the belt is completely on all of the pulleys. It is possible to have it riding on the edge.

Start it up and check it out. Youre done!

1995 Honda Passport timing alginment 3.2 ltr 6VD1 engine

The crankshaft should have the timing mark on the crank pulley (Notch in the outer edge of the pulley near the keyway) It should align with the timing mark on the oil pump. (With the keway turned to about the 3 O'clock position.)

Align the marks on the camshaft timing pulleys with the corresponding dots on the front plate.

If you are installing a new belt, it should have 2 solid white lines printed on it that you would align with the timing marks on the cams and a dotted white line to align with the timing mark on the crank.

It makes a difference which way you put the belt on. (Which edge faces the front of the engine.) Most, but not all brands of belts have arrows and the word "FRONT" on them to tell you which edge of the belt shoud face the front of the motor. If there is no mark to tell you which edge is front, the letters on the belt must be able to be read correctly as viewed from the front of the vehicle.

I need to know where the timing marks need to be for a 1991 honda accord 1321 ci displacement

If you have not removed any of the pulleys that the belt goes around or you know they are in the correct positions on their shafts, the timing pointer must be aligned with the white mark on the flywheel(at the view port); the cam pulley must be set so that small dot or the word UP is vertical and the marks on the edges of the pulley are aligned with the surface of the head(you might have to use a straight edge to check).
Hope this helps you.

Need diagram showing how to install belt belt came off need to know how it go on and how to ajust it

first jack up the right front tire side of your car and remove cover under your car motor, so you can see your pulleys from underneath your car, remove black cover where your timing chain belt is thats on the top center between alternator and powersteering pulleys, ok,looking at all your pulleys from your right side of your front end, starting from your top left is your alternator pulley, put belt on it and go underneath the motor mount to your right top powersteering pulley, then go down around the bottom right ac pulley, then to your left bottom crankshaft pulley, the back side of the belt thats on your top alternator pulley wraps around the soft edge pulley thats above your center waterpump pulley, then wrap around the idler pulley that's under your top alternator pulley, then wrap the backside of your remaining belt around the tensioner pulley that's in on your right, under your top ac pulley, use a 13 mm wrench to adjust by turning towards the back of your car so you can slide the belt on

Do 4runners crank pulleys go bad

Yes, in most cases you can. The crankshaft pulley is bolted to the front of the crank shaft by either 1 large bolt and thick washer, or by 4 small bolts around the edge of inside of the pulley, depending on model.

Remove all belts that are driven by the crankshaft pully and then grasp the pully to see if it is loose in some way.

To remove the large bolt(if that's what you have), will require the use of a strap wrench which can be gotten for the free loan-A-tool from Autozone.

Only if the end of the crankshaft was damaged in some way would you have to replace the crankshaft.

If you would like to contact me again about this or other problems, feel free to do so.
