Your flywheel may be damaged. The starter drive engages the flywheel to spin the engine. A bad ring gear or cracked flywheel will make noises you described and is ******* starters. Rebuilt starters are not always good.

Yes it is the starter, and yes it can be rebuilt. compare the cost of having it rebuilt to a remanned one. some times it is better to go reman for the warranty.

92 bmw 525i after replacing starter with a rebuilt the starter cranks when I connect the Battery up? Whats up. Bad ignition? wiring short?

Yes, you may have put the wires on the starter wrong. There is a positive post and an ignition post. If they touch or one is touching ground then the starter will engage.

2006 honda accord not starting

it the motor turns for the starter but does not turn the engine over the starters solenoid is at fault. It could be a bent fork in the solenoid to push out the drive gear to the flywheel also. I would recommend getting a rebuilt starter for your car if a lot of miles are accumulated on this old one

Sounds like your starter needs to come off. When it does'nt start try tapping on it with a hammer,if it does turn over then you need to get the starter rebuilt.Check you battery posts for corrosion and check the ground cable where it bolts to the block,if the tapping madfe no differance

either the starter gear is bad or there is a bad spot of gear on the flywheel. the strter will need to be removed and the starter gear/ flywhell inspected.

Where is the starter relay on a 94 Honda Accord

Yes, it sounds like your solenoid is bad and staying engaged against the flywheel, you could do an amperage draw and a voltage drop test to find out for sure, but you will need an DVOM and a amp clamp. Or you could take it into an auto parts store and they will test it for free. Hope this helps.
