My 2006 Toyota Solara convertible radio volume goes in and out, what can I do

This happens using the CD or radio, regardless of volume adjustment. The radio is not defective. I got an answer one time in a forum, saying it has to do with the convertible, and removing a wire? or maybe a "courtesy lamp switch", but where is it?

It's not a courtesy lamp switch! It is to do with the amplifier, and is a plunger type part that is right next to your convertible top motor. It is under the seat on the passenger back quarter panel, but you can also get to it by removing just the arm rest in back seat. The part is $7.99 in AZ

Sit in back seat passenger side. Remove panel which is on top which is below rear window, same panel where seat belt goes into panel at top. You will need to remove #2 Phillips screws which hold panel in place. Screws are hiding behind seat belt front cover where belt goes down in panel, under cup holder which allows arm rest cover to lift off and one more right on left side of head rest in corner. Remove panel. You will see switch which is in vertical position. If for any reason you want to by-pass switch, just unplug switch. Radio will still work in standard mode. The amp sound will not increase in performance when top is down and sound will not be as sharp.

Goes in and out as in on-off or what softer/louder..check for loose connection on the back of the radio, sometimes the controls get dusty and scratchy on stereos also..spray with contact cleaner if you can acess the controls behind the faceplate..good luck and repost findings

SOURCE: 2002 Toyota Solara Convertible seat belts not retracting

The front seatblet retractor springs have weakened. Unfortunatly, there are no "user serviceable parts" on them. They would have to be replaced. How many miles is on it? If you have low mileage, the Toyota Customer Experience Center may provide you some assistance, as the belt replacements are quite expensive. I'd call the CEC and explain your dilemma. Here is the number: 1-800-331-4331

An 06 Solara would not be equipped with a factory tracking device. Unless you installed an aftermarket system, there is no way to track the vehicle.

the fuse being blown is a sign of something wrong-just replacing the fuse doesn't fix the reason it blew-you have a short probably in the interior lights-the wiring goes up inside your headliner and may have gotten a wire pinched or rubbed through causing the short-cheers Denny

2007 solara convertible got wet from roof open all radio 'not jbl' functions seem to work cd everything no sound . could a fuse have blown if so where?

If you have functions but no sound, its unlikely that there will be a separate fuse for the factory external amplifier. Have your owners manual? It has an appendix with a page number to the relevant fuse locations
