I tow a front wheel drive Ford Fusion Hybrid with all four on the ground. My problem is the starting battery goes dead and the tires are wearing more than normal.

That is the problem, the tires DON'T turn, so every time you corner, the front tires scrub out. You would need to have the key in the ignition and the lock released whilst towing. You can do this easily if you have two keys, leave one in the ignition and lock the doors with the other one.

The starting battery going dead is a puzzle, but Hybrid cars charge batteries as the brakes are used and speed is decreased. The wheels generate power, so perhaps they use power if they are turning with the engine off? Just guesswork.

you may be better with a towing arrangement where the front or rear wheels fit onto a single or twin axle dolly like tow truck drivers use. Like the tow dolly in this link.

What could be the cause for my vehicle NOT to even turn over, but all dash lights & security seem to work?

the dash draws but 100x less thatn the head lights.
so even a near dead battery make weak lamps work
starter needs 100amps
the had lamps 10amps
the days 0.1amps 100x less.

for get the wheels, engines dead ,wheels are last. never first.

why not jumper cable start the car just like all AAA members do.
see? do it.
and the results will solve this fastests.

if car cranks and starts and runs. then the battery was low
if low charge it , if it wont take a charge replace it.
if it does hold a charge and goes dead driving the charges system is failing, if it fails, clean battery terminals first. and at ever 30k miles.
there are many systems on the car,
each must work in there turn.

Vito 112 cdi is in park with a dead battery we need to move it so we can repair it. how do we get it out of park to tow it?

if the situation is drastic the have the tow truck pick up by the drive wheels . Use a jump battery (Positive to battery positive negative to motor) and shift the gear selector.

Key won't turn, won't shift from Park

My 2003 Saturn l200 2.2 ecotec did this when the battery was dead. Put some juice on the battery, then the car came out of park, and I was able to remove the key. To the car, there's a vast difference between a sluggish battery and a dead battery. It may have enough amps to crank it, but it wont start w/out full output from the battery.

My audi a6 auto has gone completely dead, got in drivers door and tried the key in the ignition but the key is now stuck and the car is still dead.cannot get to the battery as it is locked in the boot.what...

When you say the key is stuck, can you check that the steering wheel is centre, and that the wheels are also centre as most likely if you try and turn the steering whel full left or full right while trying to remove the key it should come out, they often lock in the ignition because the front wheels are not straight.

Is the stering lock on??

p.s, you do not need to get to the batery to boost the car, pop the bonnet and you can connect a jump pack or jump leads to the car from there. atach one to the car body "black" earth that is to the car body and the other to the live prong, there should be one on this model it has a picture of a plus sign on it. attach the red live to that. failing that you can attach it to the starter motor if you are really stuck.

Car parked uphill .front wheel turned left to block wheels on the curb. can't turn ignition key

Turn steering wheel left while turning the key on the ignition. When you park with your wheels turn either way, There is pressure exerted on the wheel lock, like trying to turn a dead bolt lock while pulling the door. Turning the wheel towards the side where the wheel are turned will relieve that pressure and let the cylinder lock turn free.

Battery in Jeep Grand Cherokee dead this am and less than 1 year old. I have a Everstart 100 battery charger plugged in and on the car. How long does it take to charge the battery. The charger is plugged...

How many amps does this charger put out????
A small trickle charger will take forever to fully recharge a dead battery, you'll need to have a battery charger that can put out enough amps to properly charge a dead battery. To clarify, the chargers sold at Sears, the large square types on wheels are the best for charging dead batteries and they also have an amp meter telling you how much the battery is accepting. After you charge your battery, you should be around 12.5 volts to 12.7 volts. DO NOT OVER CHARGE!!!

Key won't turn and steering wheel is locked

Have you tried wiggling the steering wheel at the same time as you turn the key? Have you tried pushing on the gear shift lever, to make sure it's all the way in park?

Battery light and wheel lock

the belt of the alternator broke.

the battery light is the indication that the alternator is not charging and the wheels were not locked but very hard to turn because the power steering is not turning also. they could be using the same belt.

solution: replace the belt.
