SOURCE: my 1993 oldsmobile achieva when I slow down sputtthe car cuts off

i have the exact same car. And after a lot of searching, found the EXACT cause for this. Its your TCC switch (torque converter clutch switch). It has somethign to do with your transmission, and kicking the car into overdrive at certain speeds for fuel economy. Anyway, mine would stall out after driving for more than 15- 20 minutes, especially at highway speeds, which when you think about it - is the speed if you had a manual/stick - you would be shifting into the highest gear. Well, this chip or whatever it is basically gets "stuck" in high gear. And when you come to a stop, its like trying to get going in 4th gear on a manual from a dead stop. NOT happening!  I checked with a few people and did some searchign online - and found out all you have to do is unplug the wire leading into your transmission  (not a car guy so I'm not sure exactlyif that's what its plugged to, but on mine ,same model and year as yours, it was blue on the very front on the engine way down dead center almost if you're standing in the front of the car looking down). I believe it was a 4pin connector when you unplug it, but I'd have to go doublecheck. NOthing at all bad happens from donig this - all it does is you lose about 3-5 mpg when you drive. I still get 25-27 mpg. If your car isn't in awesome codition and you dont want the headache of some mechanic taking everything apart to get inside the transmission to replace a dumb chip that just kicks your car into overdrive, I'd go this route. Worked for me.  I have checked all over online - and everyone who had this problem and unplugged it, had no problems ever. NO side effects. One guy says he's run up 100,000 miles since then and still runs like a top! If you need more info or whatever - email me. I dont mind. I'd love to know I'm helping someone out so they dont have to deal with it as long as I did!

SOURCE: engine cutting out when idling or slowing down

Here is the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle speed, rough idle and engine hesitation (and other problems), it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

SOURCE: my vw polo keeps cutting out. when it slows down

I had a similar problem on our Polo 1.4. I replaced the throttle sensor body which I bought online for about £100. It solved the problem and was easy to change with the right tools. VW garage wanted £350 for the part alone!!

Mitsubishi Legnum 1997 5Spd VR4 cuts out and locks when Changing down gears I almost came off the road coming up to a corner changed down and the engine cut outs out. Have the same issue when slowing

take it to a dealer service centre to have the fault codes read ( what the mechanic you saw should have done). If there is a reportable fault and this condition is known to them there may be a recall to have it fixed.

Renault technical problems

Faults like this can rarely be solved in this manner as there are many things it could be, plus you need specialised diagnostic equipment. Take it to a renault repairer and get them to look at it.

My kia rio will start and run for about two minutes then cut out.I wait two minutes then drive off for another two minutes before it cuts out again like there is no fuel

It is probably the cpu shutting down the engine for something important like no oil pressure, over heating etc. Check for engine fault code but best advice is not to start it until you know exacxtly is happening as engine damage could result if you ignore the warning

2003 kia sorento keeps slowing down to a stop but doesnt cut off.I have to wait before I press on gas again.

I can't see the T/Belt giveing that problem however if the T/Belt is due it should be done ASAP because if the belt breaks it can cause pistons to hit valves (Very expensive to fix) but could be the catalytic converter or a number of other things. My thought would be to undo the o2 sensor in the exhaust & run car this will allow exhaust to escape without going through the catalyst. If car stops slowing to a stop you know that the catalyst is blocked. Or remove the catalitic converter & look through it it should look like honey comb you can see through. P.S your car posibly won't go without the o2 sensor in.
