If one tire is rotating faster than the other it activates the brakes to even it out..more bs unplug it and put tape over the check engine light,2003 problems as well sounds like plastic gears stripping, have to turn it off every time it rains or snows, causes loose wires at wheel sensor so called speed sensor which on mine are built into the hub assembly

SOURCE: abs and traction control

hi if you know for sure it's a wheel speed sensor
remove that wheel
remove the caliper and caliper bracket
remove the brake rotor
there are 3 bolts on the other side of the knuckle(13mm)
remove them
remove the axle nut(1 5/16)
remove the hub bearing assembly(you may need to use a hammer on the hub flange)
hope this helps

SOURCE: 2001 monte carlo abs traction control lights on

No. What you can do is look for one of the abs sensors that is either disconnected at the wheel hub or use an ohm meter on the connections to test the resistance. If you find one with OL, that is a short and look for a broken wire.

ABS and service traction light came on while coming to a stop on an icy road.

This is probably normal as on ice or snow your wheels will slip and both the traction control and ABS will activate. Does your brake pedal vibrate a bit. It also means you are probably going to fast for road conditions

I have a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo with a 3.4l v-6. The check engine light comes on, and when it was scanned it says cylinder 1 is mis-firing. Is this a plug or wire issue, and if so, where is cylinder one...

number one should be first plug passenger side front bank. if you don't want to invest in a tuneup try swapping the wire with one from another cylinder and see if the misfire moves to that new cylinder.

What codes and what do the messages say? Other than service traction control. For that you need to scan the ABS system for codes.
