Question about 2011 Fiat Freemont

Fiat freemont manual gears grate

I've lost count how many times I have returned my Fiat Freemont to the dealer to have a grating gear problem looked at and various parts changed to no effect. The latest was just last week 15/01/2013 when the dealership had called in a "top" mechanic make some adjustments and assured me all was now well...ahhhh... it still grates and sticks but at times drives like a can this be...I need some serious advice on this as the guarantee is running out...

I've been back yet again to the dealership who tell me that Fiat are aware of my concerns and that of other Freemont owners, so hopefully something will come out of this but I have this nagging feeling it's all talk, we will see. It would be good to get some comments from experts on this board as to their views. Simply put, how can a manual gear change be so smooth one moment and so rough the next.

Fiat grande punto gear box problem

I found this on Honest Johns website:
One of the gearsets has slipped slightly down one of the rods. Requires dismantling of the gearbox to fix it, which is expensive, so try to live with it or offload the car.

(Personally, I think offloading a dodgy car is NOT an answer, unless you fess up at the time of sale!)
I would ask the dealer for an estimate, based on the above. Assuming it to be the case!

2006 fiat grande punto road/suspension & brake noise

If two different mechanics, including a fiat dealer, already put their hands on your car, there is not much that I can say.
This kind of noise are often caused by bad rotor discs or locking up brake pads, I assume that this had been previously checked and fixed .
about the steering rack problem, when the steering rack has troubles the noise is from the steering rack itself and from the front of the car, if you are sure the noise is from wheel check brakes, or, if the noise does not cohincide with braking, check the wheel bearings.
See here on common brake noises, cause and identifying them.
about "fiat would not allow any more work on this problem", that sounds a bit like rubbish, call Fiat in your country (put Fiat in google, then find support/ contact), and ask them about their policies. I do not think from description this has got to do with steering, unless you get the noise only when steering, nyou usually get also vibrations on steering wheel in this case.

If this had been useful do not forget to rate the solution appropriately.

Many thanks
