Question about Cars & Trucks
Colorado attempting to retreive a bogged vehicle off beach. Colorado got stuck and had tide come in. Waves splashed up side of vehicle, but interior of vehicle remained dry. Both vehicles were retreived by tractor. Horn blared on colorado for a couple of seconds after being pulled out of ocean. Drove colorado 5 kms then stopped - engine idling to thank generous farmer.2 mins later horn blared - unstoppable - removed fuse. Engine idled then stopped. Never restarted - got towed home. Any ideas as to why engine will not start?

the first place to start is the flashing engine lite. that means cylinders are not firing at all or improperly and driving it like that for even short period could cause heavier damage. particularly valves and cat converter(s) the computer really needs to be scanned for codes in order to proceed. did the oil lite come on before or after engine quit. after engine quit would be normal cause it stalled. its possible that it needs spark plugs and/or coils. or more

SOURCE: 2006 Chevy Colorado - I got a significant amount of water on the floor of the vehicle. removed the water with a shopvac. Later I drove the vehicle and noticed it automatically changed from 2WD to 4WD.
Locate the IP to body harness connector, THIS CONNECTOR IS UNDER THE DASH HIGH UP ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. Check to see if there is a water leak into the area and repair as necessary. Use a water hose to determine the source of a water leak and effectiveness of repair. Some examples of potential water leaks are: A-pillar seals, sunroof drain lines (if so equipped) and windshield/cowl sealing. Finally, repair or replace the IP to body harness connector, making sure no corrosion or debris is left on or between the terminals.
IT IS ADVISABLE THAT YOU REMOVE THE INTERIOR CARPETING AND DRY IT THROUGHLY. IT WILL MOLD AND SMELL REALLY BAD AFTER A FEW DAYS IN THE HEAT.
USE A WATER HOSE STARTING LOW AND WORKING YOUR WAY UP TO DETERMING WHERE THE LEAK IS. OR USING A FOAMING TYPE WINDOW CLEANER SPRAY IT WHERE YOU THINK THE LEAK MIGHT BE AND USE COMPRESSED AIR FROM THE INSIDE ON THE TRUCK FOLLOWING THE SEAMS AND WINDSHIELD.

most fans are clutch fans and they work or are engaged by temp.most all will spin under really cold conditions.this is normal.but to be sure, with the motor off and key in your pocket grab the fan and see if it wiggles or has any slop. if not alls good

Testimonial: "Although his response was very brief, it was helpful."
Sends a signal related to the rail pressure as a voltage to the ECM. 3 wire connector :
Also check Engine coolant temp sensor and wiring. Engine coolant to manifold temp should not differ by more than 5 deg C either way after 8 hours of no operation. I have found the same symptom on these diesels with fuel supply problems. Operate the priming pump (on top of the fuel filter) until it becomes diffycult to push down before starting or checking anything else.

Testimonial: "Thanks Suzman, We actually managed to get it going....The only problem remaining is a rough idle until its warmed up and sometimes stalls until warm. "
