Trunk woill not close

I have a 2004 Kia optima and the trunk of my car will not close

I have encountered a similar problem just this winter. Because of the trunk lid's design, when you open it, 'stuff' seems to slide down into the area that the lid sits in. I accumulate many pine needles, leaves, etc. However, one night during a freezing rain/sleet occurrence, I opened the lid to put packages in and the lid would not shut because ice and slush slid down into the area around the lid. It took me several attemps, using a table knife, to get EVERYTHING out of there and eventually was able to close the lid and make the trunk ajar indicator go off.

Trouble is, since then, I've encountered the problem every time I open the lid and close it again. I may have discovered part of the problem today, as there really wasn't anything to clean out of there, but I noticed on the driver's side of the trunk lid, there is a sort of hose that seemed to have gotten underneath the closure mechanism. I gently eased it out and shut the lid and the indicator went out. None of this may help you but thought I'd toss it out for you. Good luck!

Look at the latch and see if it's already in it's locked position. This will cause the trunk to not latch. Id so you must turn the key while puling open the c shaped clip.

Locked my keys in the car but the trunk is open

if they do fold down reach in with a coathanger to reach the releases.. if not.. they bolt in and cant be removed from the trunk side as they were installed from the inside.. but a slim jim can open the car.. call law enforcement and they will come by and open it for you..especially if there is an issue like your child locked inside(or your dog)..

2004 Kia Optima LX gas door and trunk lid will not open using buttons on drivers sdie door?

Most vehicles that have a power release, also have a manual release. Check inside the vehicle, around the location of the outside filler door. You might have a removable panel, that will reveal the fuel door release cable.

Where is the fuel filter?

Hello travis.... The fuel filter is actually in the fuel tank and is accessable. On the 2004 Kia Optima EX, 2.7L automatic there is an access cover behind the back seat in the trunk. Another individual I spoke with said his was located under his back seat. This all depends on engine, year, model.

There is a hatch in the trunk behind the rear seats - remove it and the top of the tank is exposed where the fuel lines go into the tank and down to the pump.

Where is the fuel filter located on 2004 Kia Optima?

Fuel filters usually are under the car and run along the frame or unibody. Should be round cylinder shaped with lines going in one side and out the other.

2004 kia optima

My 2004 Optima did nt have filter exactly. There is only a filter bag type device on the inlet to the fuel pump. The fuel pump is located in the gas tank and is accessed by rolling back the carpet in the trunk... I have 165K on mine and never changed this filter. No parts listed at NAPA or other store for filter. Just put some injector cleaner into the gas tank every mont and should be fine
