Either your starter is bad or the teeth on your flywheel are broke off just take the starter off and u can see the teeth on the flywheel to see if there any good

Try spraying wd40 into the door locking mecahnism area, spray it down very well. There is a switch in there that gets dirty and sticks. It worked for me.

Will not turn over. good batery and bright headlights and all the electical works. place the key in ignition and it dings. when you turn over you do not hear the silinoid clicking. what do you think?

With someone holding the key to the start position try tapping the starter motor with a hammer LIGHTLY. Make sure the vehicle is in PARK!!! It sounds as tho the starter is gone.

Car won't start. For a while, it wouldn't start every now and then. When I insert the key and try to start it, that's it. The car makes the "ding ding" sound and the lights on the headboard and the radio...

try neutral instead of park.the safety switch could be bad.the starter relay is grounded by the pcm and the start relay can be jumped across to see if it will turn over. The relay has 4 pins,2 for the coil and 2 for the start circuit, and the pin numbers and diagram are on the relay itself. if you jump it,and the starter does not engage, you could have a bad starter.

The lights and will come on and the ding, ding from the key being in the ignition too but the car wont start dont even make a sound when i turn the key

Check for loose or corroded battery terminals. If thats OK, there may be a problem with the starter itself.

I just replaced my starter but it makes an ugly sound. i tried shims, still makes the sound

There are a couple things that can make starters noisy. Check the flywheel teeth for worn or damaged teeth. Next check the nose cone bushing on the starter. Alot of remanufacturing plants or Shops don't replace bushings. I have encountered this many times and it's fairly easy to do. The nose cone is the aluminum end ov the starter. you remove the solenoid and the two bolts at the back of the starter and the nose cone will come off.once it is off look at the very end of the nose cone and notice the bushing if worn will be oblong in shape. A new repair kit is less than $20.00 from auto zone and includes bushings and brushes and bendix gear.
I know cause I just used one of their kits to rebuild my starter.

Van will not start.

Sounds like it's time for a new starter. Before you go and buy a new one, check the connection to your starter for corrosion. Good luck
