Not enough info. Does it do it idling? speeding? From your info, it could be a loose timing chain slapping against it's cover .Is there any way to pinpoint the noise? Or if it's loud enough, video tape it and post it.

SOURCE: rattling noise when I press the gas pedal or when the vehicle is running idle.

Hi,
Likely an exhaust heat shield. When the SUV is cold - after sitting for 4+ hours - crawl under the vehicle and see if any of the shields are loose that cover the exhaust pipes. If they are you can use sheet metal screws screwed into the shield and against the exhaust pipeto 'wedge' the shield so it doesn't move.

Td

Usually caused by a problem with the engine air intake. Check the entire intake system including the filter and throttle body, and particularly the MAP (mass air flow) sensor and the IAC (idle air control motor).

I got a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am 2.4 liter twin cam engine with a loud rattling noise when started then bogs down then press the gas and it dies

Not a good idea to press the gas while there is a loud rattling noise from the engine. The resulting cost can be very painful.

I strongly suggest the source of the noise is located and rectified as a priority before worrying about anything else. You might be lucky and find that action will cure both problems.

I have a 96 Toyota Tercel 4 speed manual car. When I pull off it makes a rattling noise that comes from the front end. When I press the gas it makes the noise but when I am shifting gears the noise...

rattling noise from front, first rule out any loose heath shield check exhaust system, and also your engine mounts when given gas your engine shifs under torque and when you let off the gas to shift engine moves back(no load, torque) if loose or broken mounts may cause interierence on moving parts(binding). do this firts good luck

Steering Columin Housing

it could be the wiring rattled loose or a nut or a screw has come loose inside the steering column, you might be able to get at it by loosening the plastic at the bottom of the dash below the steering column. or the worst thing could be something has broke loose..
