SOURCE: ignition alarm will not stop 97 ford f150

The key switch usually breaks or wears out and makes contact. It is on the lock cylinder. This would cause the chime to not come on, or stay on. Sounds like the switch is bad.

1997 F-150/250 Warning Chime, Key-In-Ignition The key-in-ignition chime warns that the key is still in the ignition when the driver's door is ajar. The key-in-ignition warning chime will sound when:

  • GEM: Driver door is ajar, the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK or ACC position and the keys are in the ignition.
  • CTM: Driver door is ajar, the ignition switch is in the OFF/LOCK, ACC or RUN position and the keys are in the ignition.
The key-in-ignition warning chime will stop sounding when:
  • Driver door is closed.
  • Key is removed from the ignition.
  • GEM: Ignition switch is switched to the RUN position.
The key-in-ignition warning chime inputs are:
  • Ignition switch RUN position (battery potential on both RUN and RUN/ACC inputs).
  • Ignition switch ACC position (battery potential on RUN/ACC input only).
  • Key-in-ignition switch (grounded with key-in-ignition, open circuit with key-out).
  • LH door ajar switch (open circuit with door closed, grounded with door ajar).
This is a pic for a 98, could not find one for 97 which may be the older style which is more prone to break.

SOURCE: power steering went out on 1996 ford ranger what is problem?

The problem could be anything from a power steering hose has leaked out all the power steering fluid or the steering rack could be leaking fluid. Has the car made any strange noises when turning the steering wheel? A car that is loosing power steering fluid will at some point lose so much fluid as to make the power steering pump cavitate (starve for fluid) and the pump will make a high pitched noise when it has too little fluid in it. I can't remember if the 1996 ranger had only one belt on the engine or if the power steering has it own seperate belt. The belt being gone would prevent the power steering from working but if you only have one belt the car would also overheat.

SOURCE: i have a 1995 ford ranger and the door alarm keeps

It has a bad door ajar switch. Try spraying wd-40 in the latches. The switches are in the latches. Try this for a couple of days. If it still does it, replace the switch. But since you don't know which one, you might have to do both. Try the drivers door first.

My 1995 ford ranger pick up speedometer, radio, break lights, wipers and turn signals dont work

On the ford ranger wiper motor not working, this is how u fix it. I am a licenced autobody mechanic for mercedes and my son bought a ford ranger and of course the wipers were not working-neither did the dome light and door chime.I told my son too replace all fuses ,switch and motor. And still nothing.Remove radio there is a pcm in behind- ours was unpluged. When we plugged it in the door bell would not shut off and the dome light stayed on. In stead of unplugging the pcm remove the light if wd40 does not work on the door latches. And to stop the door bell ringing remove the plastic cover around the ignition and their is a single wire with a blue connector just remove the wire it is the wire closest to the key and tape up the end and problem solved guarenteed . my email is frameman127@yahoo.ca I will walk u through it .

The ignition bell wont stop ringing

You need to unplug the door harness one at a time to locate which door is causing the problem. Once the door is located, you can replace the switch which is located on the lock mechanism.

Immobiliser and alarm probs on my escort si p reg

Hi, you'll find that it's an aftermatrket immobiliser that is fitted and this is an electronic problem that usually occurs because of cheap products being used(they don't last very long). To stop this you have to by-pass the immobiliser unit(For now. So tou can use the car) and then have an auto elect install a desent unit with a guarantee(when you can). Hope this helps
