YOur description doesn't ring any bells but sounds like a light warning issue - head beams, or something light that.

The Red stop symbol indicates defective brakes!! Could be just low on brake fluid...most red lights indicate :Do not drive unless emergency until checked...Sorry, but you need immediate help with this...

lost the operators guide, its in the book in the glove box.

This symbol shines as a red or orange light depending on the severity of the discovered fault.
Red symbol - Stop the car as soon as possible in a suitable location and read the message shown in the text window.
Orange symbol - Follow the instructions shown in the text window.

On my daughter 2000 beetle with 2.0 engine, the blue thermometer light comes on solid when you first crank it up because the coolant/engine is below operating temp. I have seen the red thermometer blink when the coolant is low.

i have a light that comes on my audi a3 1.8t dash board .it is round with a cross through it and like a little box on top can any one tell me wat this is thanks

there might be a key slot or button of some sort in the glove box with a red X over a airbag symbol try changing the position a few times see if the light goes off if not its a profesional job m8 sorry jezza
