Question about 2005 Dodge Caravan

The back seat blower is staying on and the fuel pump.

When you turn off the key the back cooling and heating fan is staying on. Also I found out today that the fuel pump is staying on also. This is running the battery down. I looked for some posible pinch in wiring but I could not find anything. This car is a 2002 dodge carivan sport.

    Thanks for your help but its not the cooling fan that is staying on. Its the heater cooling unit in the back of the car. And I can not find a ECT relay in the fuse box compartment. I did check to see if the pump turns off if you pull the pump relay and it does.

If fuel pump goes off when you pull out relay, then look for a contacts on the wirings from fuel pum relay to ignition.

These are my suggestions, First off check the relay under the hood, next check the resistor for 12v power going in it and out. If this is ok then check the wires at your rear blower motor part#4885475AC. If both are ok then you may need to check the rear blower switch located in the a/c htr control unit in the dash part#4685797AA. Your problem seems to be one of these. As far as the pump staying on it might be the fuel pump relay part#4727370AA, also call your local dealer to see if you have this Fuel Tank Control Valve RECALL B25 on your vehicle. I hope this helps you. I work at a Chrysler dealer so I can give you MSRP prices on these if you need them.

You will need to take it apart and check it with a multimeter. It sounds like it may be the temperature control itself. Once I have more information I can assist you further. Also take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.

    I would definitely start checking things with a multimeter, you would be best served picking up a factory service manual. You can get them from ebay for relatively cheap and they have trouble shooting and exact steps.

Try swapping your fuel pump relay with another relay in the box should be one the same you can swap this will tell you if your fuel pump relay is sticking. if pump stays on after that it is a wiring issue or pcm problem.The back seat blower is staying on and the fuel pu - 6aa20e3.gif
the pcm powers up the relay so it would have to be in the wire from the pcm to relay. try swapping relays and lets go from there then we will tackle blower

    unbolt the ipm integrated power module. this is where all your relays are you must have some wiring problems around it this is closest point the power sources for both blower and pump to be both getting power

The very first thing what u can check is that whether the car is completely shut down and after that try and kool the engine and then start the engine and check it out and still if does take ur car to the local garage so that u dont have to pay much and ur issue will be resolve..

Your going to need the factory service manual (not Hanes, or Motors, or Chiltons) to figure out what this problem is. You can usually find a copy at any repository public library, or they can do library inter loan if they don't have a copy.

My guess is you are having two problems, or, you may have a bad ground point that is common to both the fuel pump and the fan. If the ground point loses ground, yet the ground wire for both the fan and the fuel pump remain connected, then it's possible they are seeking ground through each other. And because their location is in similar locations in the vehicle, this is a possibility.

The best cause of that is the power distribution box/FCM under the hood. if it has gotten wet you can count on it making that happen..

First check or replace the Blower Motor Relay in the Fuse / Relay center under the hood. (you can swap relays with another one in the box just to test)
If your van has the Electronic A/C, then it does have a Blower Motor Control Module that will need replacing.

Hi chet336

There is a possibility of three things wrong usually with the cooling fan: the relay, the ECT (electronic temperature control ) sensor, or a bad harness. Since the fuel pump is also running, my guess is that it is the relay and needs to be replaced. It will be found under the hood and you can get a new one from a local autoparts store.

Air Circulation
When the heated/cool seat switch is pressed to initiate operation of the climate control seat (CCS) system, cabin air is drawn through the heated/cool ventilation module air filter, then directed through passages in the foam of the seat cushion and seat back to the seat's occupant. In order for the CCS system to operate to its optimum performance, it is crucial to have unrestricted air flow through the system. A dirty or restricted air filter, the blockage of an exhaust air duct, a misaligned heated/cool ventilation module, or incorrect foam installation of the seat cushion or seat back will all have negative effects on CCS operation.
Heated/Cool Ventilation Module
Each heated/cool seat has 2 ventilation modules, one located under the seat cushion and one located in the seat back. These modules are controlled by the climate control seat module (CCSM). Each ventilation module contains a thermo-electric device (TED), a temperature sensor, and a blower motor. The TED and temperature sensor are mounted downstream of the blower motor. Each TED consists of a circuit of positive and negative connections sandwiched between 2 ceramic plates. Each ceramic plate is equipped with copper fins for heat exchange. The air flowing past these fins is either directed as conditioned air into the seat cushion and seat back, or directed into the cabin as waste air.
A TED is essentially a solid state heat pump that is used to heat or cool the air supply to the seat cushion and seat back. When voltage is applied to a TED, one side releases energy as heat, while the opposite side absorbs energy and gets cold. When the polarity of the current flow to the TEDs is switched, the hot and cool sides of the TED reverse.
During the following climate control seat system description and operation, the TEDs, blower motors, and temperature sensors will be referenced independently even though they are all packaged together as a module.
Climate Control Seat (CCS) System
The CCS system consists of two heated/cool ventilation modules and one climate control seat module (CCSM) that controls both the driver and passenger heated/cool seats systems. The CCSM is mounted below the front passenger seat cushion. It receives power from both, battery positive voltage and ignition 3 voltage.
Once a CCS system is activated, cabin air is drawn through the seat blower motors and directed across the fins of each of the thermo-electric device (TED) located under the seat cushion and in the seat back. The air is either heated or cooled as it passes over the TEDs. This conditioned air is then directed through channels in the foam of the seat pad and through small holes in the seat cover to the occupant. Once the system is activated, the CCSM uses a set of algorithms to control the temperature of the selected heating or cooling modes.
Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop an have it diagnosed .

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the C1 harness connector at the CCSM.
  2. Test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit terminal M and ground.

  4. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal E and ground.
  5. ?‡'
    If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

  6. Disconnect the C2 harness connector at the CCSM.
  7. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 1 and ground.

    If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

  9. If all circuits test normal, replace the CCSM.

Sounds like the light blew out. And the fan could just be the radiator fan which will stay on even with the car off and keys out. It has to cool the coolant and engine. Usually happens in warmer weather.

1994 Ford Taurus GL 3.0L will not start. Cooling fan and fuel on constantly with key In "on" position. Has new relay control module. Check engine light does not come on when key is on.


I have always heard that a constantly running fuel pump and cooling fan is an indicator that your ecu is going bad, horrible words to hear i know but definitely do some research on this and if it is the problem luckily there are decent finds in scrap yards to be had for little money. hope this helps and sorry about the bad luck :(

Why does my fan keep running in my 2003 Volvo S 60 after the car is off?


It can be faulty fan relay.The relay is not turning the system off.Or its wire short issue.Even with ignition off ,the fan relay is getting power so its not letting the fan to turn off.Bypass the fan control relay and see if still the fan works with ignition off or not.

I need to find the location of my fuel pump relay switch in my 1989 Chevy Corsica


The fuel pump relay should be on a bracket on the firewall near the center of the engine compartment. Depending on your engine size they should be.....

I have a 1993 VW Passat VR6, My problem is when I try to start it, I have no spark from the spark plugs..What could be the problem or how do I fix this?????

BLOWER MOTOR RUNS WITH KEY OFF ( 93 CORVETTTE ) LOCATION OF RELAYS , DIAGRAMS,


Replace blower module ( contains shorted resistors ) located near the blower motor.( 2-3 connectors) DISCONNECT MODULE FIRST TO SEE IF BLOWER SHUTS OFF. Hope yjis helps
