If the radio had not been tested at the shop, then find a different repairer that is willing to test the radio.

If instead the radio had been tested, placed on a console, and powered, and there is no sound, then the problem is the radio amp, or a different internal fault.

In this case, being minim charge for repair $80, and if there is a board to change you can go up to $200.

If the shop repairer tested the unit and tol you that repair is not worth, then that means that it is better buying a new unit.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the primary reason most independent service shops would say "CAN NOT BE FIX" would be for lack of technical documentation and questionable availability of replacement parts.

Other than a dealer, your next best bet would not be a big repair firm but rather an individual who is knowledgeable enough to perform component level repair rather than board replacement. While some techs would still do this, it has to be pointed that this would involve a lot of man hours.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Ok fine,radio was deffective as shop diagnose,some pointers to clarify;

  • did the shop check the power supply?
  • when you on radio, what appear in display?Radio station or four line?
  • if radio station appear but no sound, only speaker output was deffect or four line appear in the radio, you should send your radio on radio repair.

Would like to put the original CD changer/player

To put the original back in just hope the harness behind the radio wasant cut into. If its not it should just plug right in and mount back up in the stock location.

as far as the cd changer. if you would want to add one. you would need to find the changer, harness and headunit from a model with one.

My radio is trippen

Humm, does it give you an error also... like "E01" for example? well actually it doesn't matter because if the radio works fine with volume, it's going to be in the audio unit. Acura's with this particular radio unit has many, many CD player problems. you can have it repaired at a great expense or just replace it with a nice aftermarket radio instead. It's up to you...but it's going to be in the audio unit its self.

Good luck and hoped it helped.

About every 2 months our 6-disc CD changer breaks down and we have to have the whole radio replaced they said it comes from playing burned cds in it but it has even broken down with store bought ones. So...

I had the same problem i just decided to pull the whole thing out and get a new radio and single disc cd changer put in and so far it works fine.
