It is the Color RED and Should be Slightly Right of CENTER Between Firewall and Engine. ALSO LOOK FOR THE TUBE as The "DIPSTICK" May Be Missing

if 88% of you guys found this response helpful, we have 88% ignorance! there is no dipstick. the only way to check for the correct fluid level is to remove the "fluid level screw." fluid must be at105 degrees farenheit. when fluid flows from screw hole after screw removal, tranny is full and at proper fluid level.

Where is the dipstick located on a automatic transmission on a 1998 chevy prizm

You will open the hood and pull the transmission dipstick out of the top of the transmission. Wipe the fluid off the dipstick with a rag and then reinsert the dipstick into the transmission. Then, pull the dipstick back out and check the fluid level.

Keep in mind that the dipstick has markings to show you where the low and full points are on the stick.

Hope this helps (remember to rating this free answer).

I have a 1998 olds cutlass and dont know how to add transmission fluid. can anyone help me?

If you find the dipstick, this is where you add. You must use a long skinny funnel. Idle your car in park and check the dipstick for correct levels.

How do you check the automatic transmision fluid level in a 1998 oldsmobile cutlass

the transmission needs to be warm to get an accurate reading, drive around the block to warm the transmission to operating temperature, when you stop to check it leave the car running, pull the dipstick and wipe it clean, reinsert and pull out again to get a good reading, as you take it out to get a reading keep the end that was in the motor pointed downwards , dont lean the dipstick as this will give you a higher reading, the proper level will be a little higher than half way of the crosshatched marks on the end of the dipstick

My tranny is jerking I put an quart of transmission fluid but i still think it needs more.. it is still jerking.

I would have the transmission flushed and filled and checked for leaks for about $100.
If this doesn't solve the problem, a rebuild may be necessary which will cost, unfortunately, more.

If you think it needs more fluid, then add red Dexron ATF until the full mark is covered on the dipstick. Good luck with this repair.

Oldsmobile cutlass 1998 transmission dipstick, where is it? I can't seem to find it and an auto parts place worker couldn't find it either.

there is not a dipstick for a tranny. your car has a big red cap on top of the tranny, under the battery area
with engine running and cap off......if you can see tranny fluid, then you are fine.

When i am putting the car in drive and i start out it acts as if it is stuck in neutral and feels like i am running over rumble strips i put it in low gear and back up in drive and it is fine i thought...

let the car warm up to normal operating temperature and check the transmission dipstick. if it is low add transmission fluid in the tube the dipstick is in.

Where do I add Transmission Fluid on a 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass?

Transmission fluid is added through the transmission dipstick tube. You'll need a funnel - a long flexible one works best.

The Tranny fluid goes in the Dipstick Hole. You will need a Narrow Funnel for this.
