SOURCE: Chevy 454 back fire
Ignition timing is set by the computer as long as the distributor pickup point is within reason.
It could be running too lean. One of the TBI injectors may be sticking or not working (wiring or computer problem), or fuel pressure could be low.

SOURCE: 1993 chevy corsica backfires
backfiring through intake indicates 1 of 2 things that could be going on.1 is fuel pressure lack of fuel.but you say the plugs have fuel on them which to me indicates you have a spark problem.these are known for the ignition modules going bad which are below the igntion coils at the front of the motor.when they go bad they can affect all the coils or just 1 coil.if you have no spark at the plugs then the coils need to be checked for resistance both primary and secondary.you say the car won`t start so i`m guessing their is no spark.if the coils check ok then the module is probably bad.make sure the connections on the ignition module are tight and clean.
