Thank you for all your help. I will check the fuses again with a light tester. I did change both sensors(the one before the cat and the one after). All wiring looks good. Stay tuned!

Check the fuses and replace any blown fuses. This code is for the heater circuit of the O2 sensor. The heater is powered by a fuse which may have blown if the heater or the sensor wiring was somehow grounded.

Checked all fuses under the hood and near the brake pedal. Is there anywhere else to check?

  • Hector L. Morales Jan 26, 2013

How did you check the fuses? I want to make sure we are on the right path.

  • cjinmesa Jan 26, 2013

Pulled each one out and checked for bad fuse.

  • cjinmesa Jan 26, 2013

Just pulled the new o2 sensor off and tip is black. Could this be causing the problem?

  • Hector L. Morales Jan 27, 2013

A problem with the heater circuit is most like caused by an open or shorted heater circuit, blown or cracked fuse. If cracked it may be hard to see and a times may cause and intermittent problem. If you in fact don't have a fuse issue make sure the harness is ok. You should have power to the sensor. It is also possible that you have the wrong sensor. Also if this is a 6 cylinder car you may have replaced the wrong bank make sure is bank one sensor one that you replaced. Black on the tip shouldn't affect the heater circuit of the sensor but may affect the sensing ability of the sensor.

Finally was able to check all the fuses with a tester and everything was good. Heard lots of bad things about universal o2 sensors so went back to auto store and replaced universal for oem. Worked for 3 days now light back on. Took to auto zone today and now getting code PO420 and PO430. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hector L. Morales Feb 12, 2013

Ok well you left that all very important detail out. Universal O2 never recommended. Direct fit is the way to go. So now that your O2s are working they are detecting that your catalytic converters aren't working efficiently. Maker sure that the integrity of the exhaust is intact. If you have a scanner that could read live data look at your long term fuel trims. It should be +/- 10. Also arrive the vehicle at a constant speed of about 55 60 mph and look st rear O2 sensors bank 1 sensor2 and bank 2 sensor 2. The should be up around .650 mv to .800 mv if the fluctuate lower than that your catalysts aren't working and require replacement. Also make sure there's no vacuum leaks. Good luck.

SOURCE: i have a problem with the oxygen sensor the check

The check engine light can come on for over 150 things, from a sensor to a loose gas cap, you will need to have the codes scanned, the computer stores codes when it detects something not working correctly, there are many auto part stores that will scan it for free and give you a print out of the codes, if you can give me the codes i could help you find out why the engine light is on, good day.

Toyota Vitz 2007, 1.0 L, check engine light comes on at 100 km/h and goes off after turning off engine but comes back again at high acceleration like 100 km/h. change oxygen sensor as well.

That code is actually due to the fuel pressure being too low and causing a lean condition that the oxygen sensor picks up. It is common in that vehicle. Check the fuel pump pressure, filters etc.

Check Engine light with Po131 o2 circuit low voltage sensor 1 bank 1 reading, what does that mean?

- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 harness is open or shorted
- Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Front Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1
- Inappropriate fuel pressure
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Intake air leaks may be faulty
- Exhaust gas leaks

Replacing the O2 Sensor 1 usually takes care of the problem

The front heated oxygen sensor (or O2 sensor 1) is placed into the exhaust manifold. It detects the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas compared to the outside air. The heated oxygen sensor 1 has a closed-end tube made of ceramic zirconia. The zirconia generates voltage from approximately 1V in richer conditions to 0V in leaner conditions. The heated oxygen sensor 1 signal is sent to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM adjusts the injection pulse duration to achieve the ideal air-fuel ratio. The ideal air-fuel ratio occurs near the radical change from 1V to 0V.

1996 Toyota 4runner 3.4L error code p0133

SAE J2012 Revised DEC2007 lists Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0133 as "O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1"

This code basically means that the upstream oxygen sensor on bank one of your engine is not responding as quickly as it should to changes in oxygen leavels in the exhaust.

The usual causes of this is an oxygen sensor that is just plain worn out (if it has a lot of miles on it) or an oxygen sensor that is contaminated by engine oil or antifreeze leaks causing these fluids to be burned in the exhaust (like bad piston rings, defective PCV valve, blown head gasket, etc.).

In any case, the oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. However it should be noted that if it is caused by contamination like that described above, replacing it will only result in a new oxygen sensor doing the same thing if the cause of the contamination is not repaired.

Check engine light is on, diagnostic code p0140 keeps comming up.

I had this problem with my 05 Trailblazer and it happened around 50k miles. The oxygen sensor needs to be replaced and the part costs about 90 bucks but atleast you will have you're check engine light off.

Check engine light

P0041 Downstream Oxygen Sensors Swapped From Bank To Bank
How does a P0041 code trigger the check engine light? This code will trigger the light to come on under the following condition:

The Heated Oxygen Sensor Monitor, a strategy built into the computer, determines if the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) signal response for a change in fuel trim corresponds to the correct engine bank. If a response from the Oxygen Sensor being tested is not indicated, a trouble code will be set and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) will illuminate.
Possible Causes:
Crossed Heated Oxygen Sensor harness connectors
Wiring swapped from one Oxygen Sensor connector to the other
Wiring changed at the computer connection or in the related harness
