Hello,
Ok the Mitsubishi has an vacume fuel pressure regulator. This regulator is located at the beginig of the fuel rail above the injectors. Check for vacume and for fuel pressure. Also check the vacume check valve to the regulator for it may have failed by being cloged or the vacume tee may be defective. Ths is a common problem. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance..

This happened to my brother's 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4x4. What I've found to be the most common solution is cleaning the Throttle Body and the Idle Air Control Valve. Try those, since they're pretty much free or under 10 bucks, then I would consult a mechanic.
