I had the same problem, where the radio dash lights also goes out. All you have to do is go to the fuse box located on the passenger side of the car under the hood. It is the first fuse in the front of the fuse box it should be blue.(10 fuse) You can temp. replace it with a higher fuse if u have to, it will work the same.
Remove the backup bulbs and check again. If the fuse still blows, find the backup switch and see if it has failed and shorts when activated. You may need a Chilton book to locate the switch, it may be on the transmission, or on the gear selector linkage.
There are two speed sensors one is called a revolution sensor that is located on the case of the transmission. You can take the driver side wheel off and see the sensor on the top of the case of the transmission. A 10mm bolt is holding it in. Easy fix
I had the same problem with my 04 maxima if you check under the plastic by your windshield wiper fluid you will find another fuse box and there you will find the fuse for the back tail lights
