94 Jimmy key stuck

Can you elaborate? Do what the book says and drop the steering column to access it?

My key is stuck in the ignition. Last night, I broke my usual key, so I got a spare. I put it in the ignition to make sure it would work, went in smooth, started fine, shut it off...can't get it out of the ignition. Had a friend look at it, even tugged on it with pliers. No idea what to do next...

    Please help!

Update: I solved the problem. If i beat on it with my hairbrush, it will "pop" loose. My boyfriend finally came into town and switched keys with me, his works fine with no sticking.

Where is the steering wheel lock located?

If you have the original broken key try putting a mini drop of super glue on broken tip of key ( use a pin or needle to make mini drop) no wider then the width of key excess glue could make key stick in lock, reinstall key if all goes well after 2-3 minutes key will pullout broken piece with it when you remove it . Additionally lock mechanism is in the steering column Not easily accessible .

Key gets stuck in ignition of my 1997 GMC Jimmy can't remove until I hear a click. It does this once in awhile. It sounds like a timer has it locked, when I hear the click only then I can remove the the

The steering wheel lock pin is probably not falling into place. Try some lock lubricant and jiggle the wheel back and forth a little bit. If that does not do it, you will have to take out the lock tumbler and free-up / lubricate the steering column lock pin mechanism.

94 Ford Ranger, ignition assembly loose. Will not start unless I jimmy the assembly in towards the steering column. Require removal of steering wheel to fix?

Thats ok mam,i,m 62,retired with 19 yrs experience in automotive field.Ford cars and trucks. And several different importsBut i quit in 1996.
I,m thinking that the, gears may be out of timing and the actuating rod that moves the ignition switch contacts at or near the bottom of the steering colmn.
You should repair the key cylinder, and the tumbler that the key actuates. Then you may also need to adjust the switch assy contact box at the bottom. These are a high wear items over a lot of yrs, and useage, and might be best to pay one time, and fix it right.I used to repair tilt steering wheels, and found that its less costly just to buy a good used steering column with key and all,but now days i,m not so sure! ??? hope i was helpful!
Good luck on this problem,as i know costs are high every where.

GMC jimmy key stuck in ignition, steering column will not lock, electrical system working

It sound like your shifter linkage is worn and your ignition interlock is not making it into the park position. I'm not 100% sure on jimmies but my GMC Sierra could be adjusted on the steering column under the hood. It's just a rod through an eye with a bolt. Put the transmssion in park and loosen the bolt and twist the column until the indicator is in park, retighten the bolt.

How do you disconnect the turn signal wires from the turn signal assembly so you can remove the steering housings?

They plug in to a connector under the dash on the column. Drop the column down and unplug the harness. Then you have to carefully and patiently pull it up through. If there is a cover over the wiring below the housings it just pops off for easy access. It goes together the reverse. Hope this helps.
