Backfire through intake

your timing is off, loosen the dis. hold down bolt at the base and adjust your distribitor alittle at a time/ but give it a min or 2 for the computor to adjust with it(while its running) and be sure to check your spark plug wires at dis. for cracks, missing insulation for it just might shock ya

Wipers not working

are they working when not raining? two things to consider 1 is water getting into the electrical lines and 2 is the switch bad. Need to check both. if there is a connector to remove for the wiper motor and it has two wires simply put 12v to those wires and see if the motor runs. then i would suspect the switch. If this helps please reply as this helps me keep answering questions here and good luck

Bought 87 jeep wrangler for project. look under

Autozone.com has some great wiring diagrams. I looked and your Jeep seems to be there. Go to Vehicle Repair Guide>chassis electrical>wiring diagram. You may need to register, but I think it's worth it. I'm looking at the diagram for your vehicle so if you have any trouble finding it just post a comment and I will try to assist you.

Want to check pickup assem in dist.

Fouled spark plug? Bad wire? Rotor / cap new? Check those things out, wear a thick rubber glove, take the wire off the non working plug, put a screwdriver next to the wire (while car is running) and see if a spark is made. If it is, your plug is bad. If no spark, replace wires. Still no spark? Change your rotor and cap. Still no spark? Ignition module. Following those steps will save you some green.
