May be the heater core , or a clogged up coolant system. Do you ever smell a sweet smell, or hear water gargling after you turn the car off?

I think I need a thermostat for my 2009 Pontiac Torrent, Heat comes and goes, I checked and I have coolent

Its possible the thermostat is not working correctly, but quick changes with the heat is usually from being low on coolant or a problem with the blend doors under the dash.
Your temp gauge should be going up and down if the thermostat is not working right. And it would take a few minutes for a change to be noticed. As the thermostat closed the engine would heat up, then cool down if it opened.

My 2005 nissan altima has no heat

If before you change the thermostat,if the car has always had that thermostat in it,and the heater heated before and the engine is not overheating, the thermostat is most likely fine. But that is the cheapest way to start,Lissa is on the right track there. The heating element may need replaced..

02 stratus with the 3.0 liter in it, noticed the heat was getting weak, then changed the thermostat and now theres no heat and the coolant level is full, please help

New thermostat may be faulty. May be stuck open. Remove rad cap and with rad full and eng cold - start vehicle. The coolant should not circulate until eng reaches design temp of thermostat. Let me know if this helps you.

I have a service engine soon light on. I was told it was either the temp sensor or thermostat. replaced the thermostat and now the heat wont turn on.

Meaning your not getting any heat? I would suspect a higher temp thermostat was put in, and now its taking longer to get heat... Its also possible the thermostat is faulty... Either way, I would try a new thermostat again... The check engine light wont come on from a thermostat so change the CTS...

Heating problem

If you changed the thermostat yourself and have noted that the lower radiator hose is cooler than the upper radiator hose, you may have installed the thermostat incorrectly or have purchased a faulty thermostat. A lower radiator hose that does not get hot (or as hot as the upper radiator hose) is a direct indication of a faulty thermostat. Please vote for this solution if you found this to be helpful.
