SOURCE: Automatic Transmission shifts late and rough after warm

If it has over 60000 miles it may need a transmission service, which includes a filter and fluid change, fluid may look fine but if filter is clogged and not picking up fluid fast enough when u give it gas the pump spins faster and forces fluid thru to shift, more fluid is needed to shift into higher gear.than to drive

SOURCE: Transmission fluid type and level

This is complicated.... Ok, your right, no dip stick is there! This is how it works.
Underneath the car, there is a plug (11mm) on the transmission case on the passenger side. It is about 3" up from the pan edge and on the front side of the case. With the engine running in PARK, remove this plug. If trans fuild doesn't run out of the hole, the level is low. Pour it in the hole on top (where the red cap is) until the fluid runs out - all while the car is running. Once it is roughly dribbling out, the trans is considered full. replace plug. Your done!!

your transmission has possibly been rebuilt with stronger springs put in. No worries. have been running mine for along while without any problems. Better this than slipping, but it is a bit annoying.

There are 6 solenoids in the trans. Very rarely are these ever bad as it is nearly always mechanical failure. Solenoids are under pan though.

Would start by checking linkage or the cable that runs to tranny. Tranny fluid level is correct? Check fluid level first. Run 15-20 mins and check with motor warmed and running

Check the fluid level. The symptoms you describe can be caused by low fluid level. If this is OK, I suggest you take it to a specialist automatic transmission repairer urgently.

Check the radiator fluid level and top up if needed.
Check the gearbox oil level and for signs of discolouration. Replace if needed.

Transmission slips where does the transmission fluid go. Can I add some to see if this solves the problem

unless you have a bad leak it stays in the transmission.have you checked the fluid level in the transmission.make sure you check it on a level surface and at the proper temperature(warmed up)to get an acurrate reading.if the level is correct does it smell and look burnt(discoloured not red in colour)you probably have an internal transmission problem that will need to be checked out by a tech.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Check all your fluids. Oil, coolant, and transmission. It is a sign of low fluid to something. Check all levels.

My service vehicle light in my 2000 oldsmobile alero has come on but my car is riding fine and also another light which i believe is a fluid light came on what do i need to do

Buy a code reader from any auto parts store. Service lights usually mean emission/smog problems. For the other light check all the fluid levels. If they are fine then you have a fluid level sensor gone bad

Try a can of Lucas Transmission Slip - 100M - see if that helps. Something is sticking in there. This might free it up.

When I start driving, the engine revs high and barely goes anywhere. it goes slowly up till 25mph and then is fine. It just started today

I believe '02 rodeo's have buttons for power mode and winter mode located between the shifter and the flip up console. You may have accidentally activated winter mode which cuts power to the drive wheels for driving in ice and snow.If so look on the instrument cluster and "winter mode" will be lit in green, simply push the button again to deactivate it while in PARK.Hope this helps ,good luck.
