How do i get the transmission mounted to the motor of a 1979 ford bronco

is this a auto or manual ? if manual then it takes patience as the pilot bearing is a very close precision fit and has to be damn near exact. if auto, make sure the torque converter is properly installed and seated all the way in trans. I always use a floor jack under harmonic balancer to tilt motor down and to secure engine movement as well as a floor jack under trans on piece of plywood 1 foot square so not to damage trans pan. lift trans align pilot pins and get bolt or two started. just take your time and it will go providing these are the proper items being put together

I have a 1983 Toyota Hiace Commuter Van with a 3Y motor in it. I want to put a V6 in it. Which V6 will fit in the engine bay

A Toyota v6 out of a hilux 4runner will go in and be about half again the power and torque. Should be able to fit a 2wd transmission off the van to it. Or here in Nz and Australia the Holden 3.8 v6 is a very popoular conversion. Use the holden trans and modify the drive shaft to suit. Holden v6 is a rear wheel drive version of the Buick v6. Also seen Toyota 1UZ and Chev v8s fitted in without cutting metalwork, so room is not as much of an issue as you would think!

Replacing auto trans in a v6 vn commodore. Can i leave my torque converter bolted to the flywheel and then attach the new gearbox? or can i put a paint mark across the flywheel and converter remove bolts...

Well You have a good car there so look after itas we make them 100% OK
You dont have to mark the engine backing plate but you do have to take off the converter and leave it on the g/box and take it all out as 1 unit,,if you dont then you will have the biggest job under the sun trying to get the gearbox to line up with the 2 sets of splines
in the converter as you can turn about 30 or more times to line them up so keep as 1 unit assy
Have a good day Ron

Disassembling 700R4 transmission

I assume you are disassembling to rebuild. A manual is your best bet. Haynes shows a GM auto trans manual,#10360. You could also look at faxonautoliterature. They have the original GM service manual for your truck, which would have a section on auto transmissions. They also list a GM trans rebuild book for that specific transmission. Hope this helps.

1989 vette L98 external balance eng. w/6 speed ZF trans. installed new LUK (GM) dual mass flywheel w/ OEM replacement clutch/pressure plate assy. - eng. is out of balance. what is proper allignment for...

The clutch disk and pressure plate should be balanced and can be mounted in any position that the mounting holes line up. If there is a hole for an alignment dowl, then it is recommended to do so. otherwise it doesnt matter.

The internal balancing is taken care of by the flywheel only.
