SOURCE: removal of a cv joint from the gear box of a 2002 impala

The easiest way is to rent an inner axle shaft removal tool. You should be able to from a local parts supplier.

SOURCE: how to replace rear wheel bearing on driver side

You have a bearing hub (sealed unit) To remove it, first remove the nut from the axle in the hub center, Remove caliper and brake rotor. You can access the hub attachment bolts through the holes in the wheel flange. You may need to put a chisel between the hub and knuckle (keep alternating sides) to break it free (they generally get pretty rusted in) use a good amount of solvent. Once it's out, clean the cavity and put a swipe of grease inside so new one goes in more easily. draw it tight evenly and replace remainder of what you removed. If it is extremely rusted you can rent a slide hammer to get it out but generally with a bit of patience they do break free.

SOURCE: remove steering wheel from 1998 chevrolet cavalier

if you have an airbag in the steering wheel, i would take it to a garage, but if you disconnect the battery to discharge power from the airbag and then remove the middle of the wheel as this will be where the nut that holds the wheel on, but like i said dont go messing with the airbag unless you know what you are doing, it will hurt if it goes off in your face and exspensive

SOURCE: 2001 chevrolet impala hard to turn steering wheel

This is a common problem with the 2001 Impala. The intermediate shaft in the steering needs to be lubricated or replaced. There is also a recall on some Impala's. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm I suggest you take it to a trusted Chevy dealer and have this repaired.

2002 impala the audio controls on the steering wheel stopped working

it could be your clockspring; it carries multiple electrical signals to and from the steering wheel (audio controls, horn, airbag). the wheel has to be removed to gain access to it for replacement, but it can be tested without removal. the easiest way to test it is with a diagnostic tool

How to remove the dash face to replace the climate control unit on a 2003 impala LS

I believe yours goes from one side to the other. There are two screws, one on each side, remove the fuse covers to acess them. then there are two screws in the panel above the instrument panel. The rest is just clips that pull out, put the steering wheel in the down position and carefully start pulling the panel off, working from the drivers side to the passenger side. it will come out you just have to be careful around the steering wheel.

Chevrolet impala 2002 wheel noise

If it's a clunking noise during turns and manuevers, it is probably your intermediate steering shaft. It is a known problem, and is easily fixed if you have a bit of patience. The proper way to fix it is to remove the shaft (the shaft that links your steering wheel to the rest of the linkage for steering) and cram new grease into it until it is squirting out the other end. This will fix it for a few years or permanently. A short term fix, which is easier and does not require any removal of parts is to get a can of spray stuff (I can't recall what it's called, but there are a few out there) which is basically lube, pull away the boot that coveres the shaft and spray most of the can into it. This will fix the clunk also, but for a shorter period of time. If it comes back, you will need to repeat the spray, or get it re-worked correctly.

Steering wheel controls dead.

You will need to replace the rotating contact under the steering wheel, it is called the clock-spring contact for short. have a dealer do this as it requires the airbag be disarmed and removed, this must be done by the book or serious injury can result if it goes off.
