I had the same problem with my saab 93, and it turned out to be the air con pump which set me back £250 plus labour.

SOURCE: saab 9000 cse turbo

Hi Steve,
I had a similar problem on a full pressure SAAB 9000. With me it only happened under hard acceleration, and it was caused by the Waste Gate Controller being sticky and over-boosting the engine to the point where the overpressure switch came into play - this cuts out the engine till the pressure drops to a safe level again - hence the sudden loss of power. On the full pressure turbo's you get a boost gauge so you can see it happening, but I don't think the LPT's have one fitted - so its probably a garage job - otherwise Saab9000.com will show you how to test it yourself.

Regards

Hugh

SOURCE: how do I replace my 2004 Saab 9 3 linear's water pump.

Re : the computer , they better cover it under warranty or they ****.
Re : the water pump , you have a leak and they say it is the water pump , I have no reason to doubt that they have honestly checked out the problem and determined that a new water pump is the only solution but , damn $ 1000 is pretty steep. I would look around for another mechanic for a second opinion and a quote. Avoid dealerships. Not sure what engine you have but i just looked in my saab with a 2.3 and hope I never have to do mine. I am pretty good with a wrench but I know there would be lots of swearing involved.

No acceleration 2001 saab 93

Need more details but that reminds me a little bit of a 9-3 we had that had a failed MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) that lost a ton of power and was groggy until we swapped it out with one from another car. Won't coast baffles me... maybe the turbo is seizing up??

2004 saab 9-3 turbo won't accelerate

i am the owner of a 2004 saab 9-3 that had the same problem. the car could barely make it up a slight incline.

after diagnostics, they determined that it was a faulty "pedal travel sensor" (engine code P1238), which cost $590. after labor and taxes, my total came to $747.53. yikes.

sucked to pay that much, but it fixed the problem.

I ave acceleration problem with my saab 1.9tdi 150bhp i accelerate the car but it drives very slow and now the malfunction light has come on i need a lil help here thanks

could be a problem with the exhaust gas recirculation valve and it putting the car into a get you home mode which will reduce power best to get it onto a diagnostic machine to be sure as there are so many sensors that could fail but i have heard this is the most common one.

My power steering has stopped working in my saab 93 linear sport, the altinator is not charging either what is wrong

sounds like you have lost the drive belt or belts.
If the belt(s) is gone you should determine why before replacing them.
