The left head is located on the left side of the motor, when you're sitting in the vehicle. When you're looking from the engine compartment directly at the motor, the left head/side would be just the opposite. facing the motor with the belts looking at you, the left head would be to your right side. The number one piston/cylinder is the head wher the front of the head is closest to you when standing and looking at the belts.

Why no power right side and there at the left side?

Did you test for power or is it that the head light is not working? I would trace the wiring from the right to the left starting at the right head light. Also if you left head light is not coming on and you find you have power to the light, check that the light socket or plug is clean and check the ground wire for that light! If you find the wire running to the light is not getting power you will need to check the wire itself and the point where it connects to the right head light, normally at the back of the light socket.

I am losing antifreeze no leaks and white smoke

White smoke means the car is burning antifreeze, along with gas. One of your head gaskets has blown out and will have to be replaced. Also the cause for overheating. A block test or compression test will confirm it, and tell you which head gasket is out, whether left bank or right bank of engine.
Sorry for the bad news, ft, cylinder head repairs are expensive.

My uncle says that 3 of the spark plugs are located in the back of the engine. i say they are in the front with the other 3. I cannot find a diagram!!! would you mind telling me where they are? 2004...

If its a V6 front wheel drive, 3 on the left head (rear) and 3 on the right head (front) if it is a straight 6, all 6 are in line on the single head. 4cylinder, all 4 in line on the single head......Mike

If you are keeping this Kia Sportage car for a long time that I suggest that you buy a service manual also from autozone or advance auto parts and in there should tell you the information you are looking for in the book, but read bottom here

The head bolts are 59 to 64 ft lbs but we use 62 ft lbs.

If you are looking at the head you should have 10 bolts and you start on the left side first, the longer of the two sides.

Left side, longer side, front to rear...8, 4, 1, 5, 9.

Right side, shorter side, front to rear...7, 3, 2, 6, 10

2002 escape 3.0 camshaft cap bolt torque specifications

make sure to apply 5w-20 oil to caps prior to install. Also caps and journals are number so you do not install in wrong place. Starting with Righ side looking at pulleys from front, right side cam start with first cap on left being #1 then bolt on other side of cap as #2. Cap behind would be #3 to left then #4 bolt next to it. Keep tightening the next 2 caps behind them in same manner, then jump to front of cam to left side and tighten caps front to back. You should tighten to 10 Nm (89 lbs-in) with a torque wrench. Then you tighten left side head cam caps starting with the left side if looking at front pulleys. Start at front caps working to rear then jump to right side cam front to back. Tighten these caps at 8 nm (71 lb-in) using torque wrench. Also make sure if heads are bolted to block that cam pulley postion is the following: left side looking at pulleys------left pulley mark at 12 o'clock right pulley mark at 3 o'clock. Right side head looking at pulleys------- left side pulley at 9 o'clock and right side pulley at 12 o'clock. When I say clock postion that means using head where valve covers meet as your straight vertical postion.

I need to know the torque settings on the head for a 94 jeep grand cherokee laredo

Assuming the motor is an inline six
1.Middle bolt is number 1.Clockwise torque to 22 f/lb
2.Same pattern to 45 f/lb
3. same pattern to 100 f/lb
Be sure to use loctite 592 to the threads and some head gasket sealer to both sides of the head gasket.
Hope this helps
