My 2009 Chy. T&C makes a flapping sound for about 10 Sec. after the car is started. I traced it to the re-circulation door, above the fan motor. When it is on re-circulation mode it doesn't do it. When it is in fresh air mode and the fan is turned on, it does. The door comes down and then continues to bump the bottom for about 10 Sec. or more. After that it stays down until the fan is turned off and back on again. I don't think it is Vac. operated. Any ideas?

The fuse is No.3 "DR locks" (near steering wheel)
If you take the fuse out the doors will not open itselves.

The root cause of the problem will be a microswitch inside the drivers door?

Check this:

======FOG LIGHTS ============

1.At first take out the foglight's fuse before you battery is dead. (Fog lights stays "ON" even you leave the car).

2.You must replace the Multifunction control switch =(

Here is the photo of problem:

Fog lights are connected to pin 13,14.
Fog light switch is "B". Because the current is many Amps, contact surfaces are heating up.
After that the contact opening "C" is melting (made of plastic) so the fog light stays "ON".

Sounds like part of the mechanism has come off track, sorry NOT a home repair...Go to a body shop and have them look at it...Be prepared it could be expensive to repair...Personally, I'd just stop using it.

These doors are controlled by vacuum from the engine. Sounds like you're getting vacuum, but is losing it when you make a change. You may have a cracked vacuum line to the drivers side flap.

After 10 minutes car engine start a/c goes off

A: If the compressor turns off but the circulation fan continues:
  1. Insufficient refrigerant charge;
  2. Refrigerant overcharge, causing evaporator coil freeze-over;
  3. Defective compressor clutch;
  4. Clogged screen in orifice tube;
  5. Front condenser coil is clogged with dead bugs, dirt, foliage, or other material.
B: If the entire system turns off, including the circulation fan:
  1. Defective system breaker;
  2. Defective system relay;
  3. Defective climate control module (at dashboard);
  4. Fan motor overheating due to clogged air intake or other obstruction;
  5. Fan motor overheating due to debris in air handler box, such as leaves or other plant debris.

I'm getting an intermittent loud flapping sound when the AC is turned on my 2009 Smart ForTwo

Question. Is the flapping at a very fast pace that would indicate the speed of a fan blade hitting something? If so, you may be on to something there such as a misplaced gasket or something has dropped/fallen into the blower box via a vent.

If it is not that speed then see the following..

Hope I can give you some direction. Speaking from a generic sense all ac/heaters these days have a door or doors in the blower box that control air flow from the main part of the box to different positions when you ask for vent, heater, mix, defrost etc..

Most these days are operated with a small electric servo/motor and unfortunately the mostly have plastic gears that wear and can "thump-thump" as the motor cycles trying to open or close the flapper door.

Try to change the air direction from Max AC to regular ac to heater, defroster, bi-level etc all with the AC switch in the on position if you have a separate on/off switch.

Listen to the sound and see if it comes and goes with a different location of the selector switch.

One last question. Does it happen at idle or driving down the road at any particular speed?

Lets start with that and see what happens. This is interesting.

Tiguan no internal air circulation

your air con system will have a fresh / resirc system apart from on defrost, which is only external air.
the blower motor up under the dashboard on most cars, will have a flap which is either cable or switch operated. I assume this flap is either jammed, broken, or the device which operates it is same,
take the glovebox out and you should see the flap.
note...its all plastic so dont force anything!

I have defrost and vent function,but no heat to the floor.

sounds like your control for this function is bad also check the electronic bypass door switch electrical connection for looseness & possibly broken arms. With control on hot,the fan on low,turn the key on for @ 20 sec. With the key on turn the heat control all the way to cold now turn the key off instantly & put your ear to the floor next 2 the heat vent & u should hear the door of the vent make a whining noise hense changing from open 2 close 4 another 20 sec. GOOD LUCK!! BEEN THERE & DONE THAT!!!!

Most of the time this noise is heard when a temperature actuator has gone bad, you can check this by changing temperatures and noting if the noise changes in sound. If so then replaced the actuator. If no change is noted, then open and lower the glove box and while changing from a/c to max a/c, check that the recirculation door is moving into place and not flapping. if flapping, the recirculation door is broken and will need replacement.

Diverter Fan broke affecting air and heat

it is not you fan ticking. there is a big door in your heaterbox that switches from heat to a/c. alot of times the motor that turns this door gets jammed. if the motor is removed and the door turned manually, turning the car on with the motor {flap motor} removed still , turn the heat to cold, wait for the motor to stop turning, then bolt it back onto flap and you should be fine.mercedes is not perfect, sometimes you have to remove the dash to access this flap motor

Heater temperature does not stay hot

1st thing to check is the coolant level. I've seen cars w/ no heat, or very little quite a few times caused by low level in cooling system--not low enough to overheat the engine, but enough that circulation of coolant to heater core is affected (no or little hot coolant circulation to heater core=no or little heat),
Is the engine temp gauge in the normal range? If it's in the low range, engine not reaching operating temp. it could be caused by a thermostat stuck in the open position (or no thermostat, sometimes people remove them when their car overheats, and this should not be done).
Here's how the system works: the heater 'box' contains a heater core (a mini radiator) w/ a fan and hoses connecting the heater core to the engine cooling system. Hot engine coolant is circulated thru the heater core. When u activate the heat switch on the dash, a flap door opens to expose the heater box to the passenger compartment. The fan switch on the dash activates the fan, which blows air thru the core, which heats the air.
So, if it's not the coolant level at the radiator, the fan is obviously working, the engine is reaching operating temperature, I would say it must be the flap door that opens, isn't opening fully, or isn't staying open. It could be the dash switch is defective (not supplying current to open flap door) or less likely the flap door is binding somehow. Hope it's as simple as correcting coolant level, if not, the dash switch control should be checked
